I Want To Take an Anime and Manga Tour in Japan

OMG… I want to do this. (Maybe Next Year – I don’t have Vacation Time left this year since I will be going to Peru this summer) Their next tour is in just a few weeks, and seems to only happen once a year, in March coinciding with the International Anime Festival AnimeJapan.

https://japandeluxetours.com/japan/group/anime-japan-tours#anime3

Visiting Japan is my life long dream. (sadly, mostly just so I can go shopping for anime, game, and doll stuff lol. Although I do want to do the museums and cherry blossoms and hot springs and other cultural things too – though mostly, I’m just a big geeky nerd who loves anime and wants to go shopping – which is what this whole tour is designed for <3)

Animate - The World's Largest Anime Store

Animate – The World’s Largest Anime Store

It’s not that much money (well OK it is, but it’s cheaper than I expected honestly). Guided 6 Day Anime Tour in Japan which includes hotels and Guides through all the “anime” spots in Japan (since I can’t speak Japanese a Guide would be helpful…)

Cat Heavy Breathing GIF

Only $1,500 a person, includes hotels for each day. I’d just have to have airfare, and LOTTTTTTTTSSSSS of money for food and shopping. Like seriously I’d probably want to have another $1,000 with me just for shopping lol. If I buy a dollfie dream or custom volks doll or something that’d eat half that budget right there. Then there’s all kinds of cheap (but cute) dolls / toys / figurines, etc.

idea intensifies GIF

I wouldn’t want to go by myself either – I would hope my boyfriend would go with me but if not then I’m pretty sure that I could find a friend or family member to take… If I had to pay for both of us that’s $3,000… The tour includes several meals but I’d need money for more meals (Let’s say $100 a day food budget X 5 days $500) Airfaire is probably close to $1,000 a person too So not counting shopping expenses I’d need $5,500… I want to mainly go shopping so I’d want at least $1,000 for shopping for myself that’s $6,500…. which still… isn’t that bad because of all the things this tour includes.

Studio Ghibli Museum

Studio Ghibli Museum

This tour includes all of the Ghibli and other museums, the largest anime stores, and even admission to an anime convention for one day. OMG and an anime theme park another day… OMG it includes real life mario kart racing too…. omg…

Anime GIF

The number 1 place I want to visit actually isn’t on this tour – that place is Doll Point Akihabara – Volks store where you can buy Dollfie Dreams and Asian Balljointed Dolls and Accessories – including some items available only in the store and not sold online. But that’s OK because the tour gives you free time in the evening and one free day where you’re on your own without a guide.

Doll Point Akihabara

Doll Point Akihabara

My dream / life goal / bucket list… lol…

Now that I have my passport I can actually do stuff like this O_O!!! Now I just need money (lots of money) (and to wait for my vacation time again lol).

OMG!!!! They have a different tour to the Tokyo Game Show and Video Games / Arcades in Japan too. A shorter one, only 3 nights.

And another one which is 8 nights and includes things like the deer park (deer just roam the streets, they’re tame you can pet and feed them, etc). And includes more museums and things too.

Of course the best one is 15 days long – but it’s also the most expensive.

So many awesome tours. I’m definitely doing this (probably the 6 day one) – Hopefully next year once I save up the money.

Pusheen 2017 Spring Box Opening Review

Pusheen box continues to impress with large, big ticket items, and tons of exclusives. Pusheen 2017 Spring Box marks one year of my receiving this quarterly subscription crate, which first debuted in Winter 2015 (I missed out on the first box, boo). Ever since I joined in Spring 2016, I’ve never once been disappointed by the contents of my box, making it by far, the best subscription box for girls.

I received my box in May, which happens to be my birthday, and inside, there’s tons of birthday / party related goods – awesome coincidence. I could throw myself a Pusheen party, but don’t have anyone to invite except for my cats lol.

It came packaged in a cute Bunny / Easter themed Pusheen faced box.

You can already see the next item in the above pics, a Pusheen Tshirt, here’s another look. Mine is a wee bit big. I think it will probably shrink though when washed? lol. The colors are so cute and the lil birthday hat Pusheens kill me lol.

My phone case doesn’t really fit too well in here, and it was a lil difficult to operate, it didn’t seem to support the weight of my phone (or case) too well. Did slightly better when I removed the case. Maybe I just don’t know how to use a selfie stick lol. It seemed “loose” and wanted to flop “forward” from the “square” part that holds the phone… Still cute, but dunno if I’d trust it to hold my expensive Iphone lol.

Also speaking of things flopping forward, Some of the Photo Booth Props seemed floppy – but maybe I’m just a derp and didn’t assemble them correctly. That is about my only complaint in this month’s box.

As always is the case with my Pusheen Box reviews, this is in no way a paid review. They do not even have a referral program. I’m merely sharing photos of all the cuteness because I know it will appeal to my readers.

If you’re interested in getting your own Pusheen Box you can sign up at PusheenBox.com

Final Score:

Packaging: 10/10 – The box is even shaped like Pusheen, the bottom of the box even has jelly bean toes – can’t handle the cuteness.

Quantity of Items: 10/10 – Packed to the top with tons of Pusheen stuff

Quality of Items: 7/10 – this month had a lot of “cheap” “paper goods” such as the photo booth props, banners, balloons, etc. While I was still happy with those (especially given that my birthday is next week lol), I am not used to seeing these lower quality items. Also as mentioned the selfie stick didn’t seem very sturdy to me. — The other items are all super high quality though. And compared to other boxes where you get mostly “cheap” plushies and stationary items, this box still feels higher quality overall.

Size of Items: 8/10 – Many nice larger items such as the Bento, Wireless Speaker, Vinyl Figure, Tshirt, and etc. Offset by a few cheaper/smaller items (mentioned above). Overall, compared to other boxes, Pusheen box consistently delivers more “big ticket” items. Compared to past Pusheen Boxes, the Spring 2017 box has a lot more smaller items as well. Hope this is not a continuing trend in the Summer box. Still mostly satisfied and surprised by the number of expensive, large, nice items. I feel it is well worth the cost of subscription and not just trinkets and baubles.

Variety of Items: 10/10 As always, a nice variety of items, ranging from fashion, to home goods, to toys, to stationary, to even electronics.

Rarity of Items: 10/10 The exclusivity of the items – being only available in this crate and not in any stores, makes this box one of my all time favorites for collector value.

Items Fit Theme: 9/10 Everything is 100% licensed Pusheen Goods. This month’s theme seemed to be a “party” theme and almost all of the items fit this theme, you have food and drink, party decor, music, and memories. It also seemed to have a vague easter theme with the box having bunny ears and the vinyl exclusive this month matching that. Perhaps a better match would have been a party hat Pusheen box and vinyl figure. But that’s a minor thing :).

Overall Value: 64/70 91% A- “Excellent Subscription Box For Girls”

Winter 2016 Pusheen Box Opening

Pusheen Box has now been around for 1 full year – with the first box appearing in Winter 2015. The box is a quarterly subscription service full of cute officially licensed and exclusive Pusheen merchandise. Each box includes a wide variety of items ranging from home goods, to toys, to clothing and wearable items.

The Winter 2016 Pusheen Box features a ton of cute items. Take a look at my photos below!

And that’s a wrap! 🙂 Thanks for reading – if you’d like to get your own Pusheen Box, the next one will ship in March 2017 and you can sign up at www.Pusheenbox.com

This is not a paid review – I purchased the Pusheenbox on my own with my own money, and am always extremely satisfied with the quality and quantity and wide variety of items inside.

Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Pusheen Box – Spring Pusheen Box – Box Opening – Review

I purchased the Spring Pusheen Box which is a quarterly subscription box filled with all Pusheen items (you can learn more at http://www.pusheenbox.com/) – Sorry no video this time; I was so excited that I opened it right away – but I did take lots of pics. I promise I will do a video review for the Summer Pusheen Box. This box is REALLY cute. I have a grey tabby/maine coon too that reminds me so much of Pusheen – that’s why he’s one of my favorite webcomics / characters.

I did have a small problem with one item being broken – however, the damage is REALLY minor and I plan to just fix it myself. The large limited edition Baking Pusheen figurine, mine’s rolling pin was snapped off – however, I can glue it back on easily enough.

Overall I was really super pleased with the quality of all of the items and knowing they’re officially licensed and not counterfeit. They say that most of the items are exclusive and not available in the Pusheen online shop or in stores.

Enjoy the pics – I’ll try and make comments about each item too 🙂

Even the box is cute! He even has little jelly bean feet underneath the box!

Let’s Open the Box and see what’s inside!!

Everything is packed nice and neat.

The first item is an adorable apron – I just wish it wasn’t white because the kitchen can get messy sometimes. Would have been better a bright color I think, Maybe red, or blue, etc. But otherwise, it’s adorable.

The next item is an umbrella – I can’t get a good selfie of it obviously since it’s so big lol – This cute design goes all the way around. It was a lil tough getting it to snap/lock into place, and really dang hard getting it to “snap” back together (when it’s folded it has a strap that you wrap and snap around to keep it all nice and neat, and I think this strap needed to be a lil bit longer) but it is still adorable. 🙂

There was also a 3-pack of socks — THEY ARE CUTE! OMG – One of my fave items in this box (of course its spring now and I’m wearing sandals so not sure if it was good time to ship socks, but I love them anyways. Each one shows Pusheen munching on his favorite snacks, such as donuts and pizza)

Of Course, my VERY favorite thing in this box was the Baker Pusheen Figure – Exclusive only to the Spring Pusheen Box. – As mentioned above the rolling pin was broken on mine but it was very minor damage. I will glue it back on and he’ll be good as new. It was MUCH larger than I expected. I love it. He also can snap off his base which is nice for play or possible interchanging figures/bases etc.

The next item is a 3 piece pin set – when I first saw it, I thought maybe they were magnets, until I read the description – Seems like magnets would have fit the kitchen theme better, right? lol. These are cute though! You could wear them on your clothes, or if you have a corkboard in your kitchen (which we do) you could pin them on there to hold recipes, grocery lists, or other items with.

The best part about the spring pusheen box is this pusheen cookie cutter – I haven’t used it yet, when I do use it I’ll come back and update this post with pics of how the cookies turn out 🙂 I have some friends coming over and we’ll bake lots of cookies together. I think you could also use it to do mini pancakes and lots of other things.

This adorable Pusheen Mini Planter was also inside the Spring Pusheen Box – It is ceramic – and I’m impressed it arrived without any damage (since there was little to no padding in the box.) I am really happy with this item – I’m planing to use it for paint brushes and art pencils and things of that nature in my doll room now.

There were a few small items in the box too such as some sticker sets and a key cover. I like scrapbooking so those stickers will be put to good use!

Overall, I’m very pleased with this subscription box and will continue my subscription. I feel like you get a lot of really high quality items for a great price. It only comes 4 times a year which makes it more affordable for me than paying every month. And I just think Pusheen is the cutest. – I can’t wait for the summer box it looks like it may have a BEACH theme! I’m predicting it might include a summer wearable or big beach towel or maybe Pusheen flipflops lol Or Pusheen Sunglasses – both of which would be sooo cute.

Also check out my list of the Top 10 Subscription Boxes for Geek Girls.

Top 10 Subscription Boxes for Geek Girls

Subscription boxes are taking over the internet. If you’ve never heard of such a thing, you must be living under a rock. The basic premise is you subscribe by paying a monthly fee and you get a box full of monthly goods delivered to your doorstep (or digitally in the case of a few subscription services out there). You don’t get to choose the items inside, so it’s like Christmas, or a birthday, opening a box and being surprised every month. How exciting! Of course, you run the risk of not liking what’s inside either though so it’s a gamble. They have boxes for everything from beauty products, to cat toys, dog treats, and yes, even anime and gamer and geeky boxes too.

This post has been modified but not “updated” to introduce new boxes, or remove boxes which may no longer be available on the market – since its original publication in December 2015. When I initially wrote this post, it was based on “second hand” research, such as watching box opening videos, reading reviews, looking at photos, visiting the websites, etc. However, over the course of 2016, I have personally tried and purchased several of these subscriptions. To see some of the boxes I’ve reviewed look here: http://geekysweetie.com/category/review/subscription-box-review/

I would also like to take a moment to give a “shout out” to Boxychan since I did not know about it in my original post below. It is my favorite anime subscription box. I’m currently signed up with their 9 month program at $28 a month. You can read my Boxychan review here http://geekysweetie.com/boxychan-anime-box-june-unboxing-photos-review-monthly-subscription-box-anime-manga-fans/:

And one final shout out to Pusheen Box – I signed up in Spring and am still signed up and expecting the summer box to ship at any time. You can see my Spring Pusheen box review here: http://geekysweetie.com/pusheen-box-spring-pusheen-box-box-opening-review/.

Regardless of the “Top 10” nature of the boxes below, Pusheen Box, and Boxychan are my favorite subscriptions. I’m also signed up to Humble Bundle Monthly which you’ll see in the Top ten list below. Those are my current 3 subscriptions of this nature. Very happy with those ones. I’ve also reviewed and subscribed or been gifted other boxes from this list below but am not a current subscriber to them. Have had to unsubscribe in some cases due to some varying degrees of quality issues, counterfeit items or just “too expensive” When a box on this list has been reviewed, I try to make an effort to go back to this list to add additional comments and point you towards my full review. Enjoy the original post below. And leave me a comment about which subscription boxes you enjoy!

This post will feature the top 10 subscription services for geeky girl gamers and otaku anime fans. Let’s dig in.

10 Humble Bundle Monthly

This is a new subscription service, in only it’s 3rd month currently. However, it’s from a reputable company that features bundle games regularly on their site. The new Humble Monthly features a plethora of games delivered digitally (usually through Steam) each month and focuses on more AAA titles and games which have never appeared in bundles on their site before. The subscription service costs $12 a month and you can sign up at https://www.humblebundle.com/monthly or view their past bundles.

Unlike any of the other boxes on our list, this one is all digital. It also does not give you any preview or theme or indication of what the next bundle will contain so you go into it completely blind. But for 12 dollars a month it’s a pretty good deal. I haven’t been too thrilled with the contents yet myself; but it does broaden my gaming horizons some, by giving me AAA title games which I would absolutely not buy for myself such as Saint’s Row and Payday. I just wish they’d have more diversity like some AAA visual novels or AAA roleplaying games. Everything has been action / stealth / shooter etc. I know that’s what most gamers want to see, but out of 6 games in each box, can’t they throw a girl a bone here by making 1 or 2 of them each month more “girly”? UPDATE: This post was originally published in December 2015 – since then, there have been a few RPGs, such as Talos Principle which made me pretty happy -Im still subscribed to it – but most months don’t see much that tickle my fancy. However, Talos Principle had been on my wishlist since it first came out – and that game alone paid for several months worth of this subscription – so not a bad deal.

9 Loot Crate

Everyone knows of Loot Crate, the subscription service with geeks in mind. The subscription box costs $13.95 a month and includes things like funko pops, tshirts, toys, posters, and more, from various pop culture references such as dr who, marvel, nintendo, minecraft, and more. Sign up here: https://www.lootcrate.com/crates/lootcrate/plans

8 Anime Crate

From the makers of Loot Crate, comes Anime Crate, a new subscription box focusing on providing merchandise from Anime series. For some reason, it costs a lot more money than loot crate at $24.95 a month. It also unfortunately seems to focus primarily on mainstream shonen titles such as naruto, dragon ball z, and bleach. None of which appeal to me. It is a relatively new box; so perhaps future themes will throw in some shoujo items. You can view past crates or sign up here: https://www.lootcrate.com/crates/anime/plans

The nice thing about all the boxes from Loot Crate is they give you a “monthly theme” so you can decide to sign up, and/or cancel if there’s a theme you really want to check out. It says each crate has over $60 of goods, and they give away a “Mega Crate” each month with usually $500-$800 worth of goods such as gaming consoles and more. Of course with hundreds of thousands of subscribers, your chances of winning the Mega Crate is pretty low; but it does add a bit of excitement to the mix.

7 Level Up

Another box from the makers of Loot Crate, this one focuses on clothing. They have both men and women’s clothing in sizes ranging from Extra Small to 5-XL. Yay for body diversity. This “box” works a bit differently, with lots of options to choose from. My favorite is the accessories box which is definitely the most girly of them, with things like purses, scarves, wallets, totes, and jewelry all with a geeky theme. That one runs $14.99 a month. There’s a box for tshirts, at just $8.99 a month! That’s a great deal on geeky apparel. They also have a premium tshirt box for $14.99 a month which is a bit more “stylish” (form fitting, or with cuffs, collars, etc) (more dressy). They even have a box for geeky socks for just under $5 a month. If you can’t decide which box you want, they offer a bundle with 2 socks and a premium tshirt each month for just over $20. You can check out all the different clothing bundles here: https://www.lootcrate.com/level_up

Loot Crate also offers pet boxes for geeky items for your pets. I didn’t include it in my top 10 list because not all of my readers have pets, but it’s worth checking out if you’re a pet lover.

6 Nerd Block

Nerd Block is probably the 2nd most widely known subscription service (right after Loot Crate). Like Loot Crate, Nerd Block offers many different types of boxes including Classic, Arcade, Scifi, Horror, Comic, Boys JR, and Girls JR. Nerd Block calls itself “Toy Subscription Boxes for Geeks”

Like Loot Crate they also give away one special box each month, called the Big Boss Block, which includes things like video game consoles and more expensive items. But like Loot Crate, since they have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, your chances are slim to none to get this special box.

Also like Loot Crate, they offer a preview each month so you can decide to sign up or cancel before the next box comes out. For example, at time of writing, the next box is a mortal kombat, portal, and street fighter themed box.

Their boxes cost $19.99 a month, and focus more on toys than the other boxes. Each box also includes one Tshirt. For any mommy bloggers out there, the JR boxes have “child safe toys” for kids aged 6 and up.

You can view all of their boxes and sign up here https://www.nerdblock.com/

5 Kawaii Crate

Kawaii Crate features Japanese goods such as plushies, toys, snacks, and more. The crates also sometimes include anime DVDs, Manga, or Magazines. The really cool thing about Kawaii Crate is if you don’t like what’s inside, send it back and get a full refund!! I don’t know of any other crates that let you do that. It is pricey at $40 a month making it less affordable than the Loot Crate anime box. You can sign up at http://kawaiicrate.com/pages/subscriptions

4 Betoyo Bento

This box features some really super nice high quality collectibles, dolls, and figurines, for just $38 a month. UPDATE: The price has dropped to just $28 a month making this box almost too good to pass up. The next box will feature a sailor moon item. Oh how I wish I could sign up!! lol. It’s all toys/figures and there are some really good ones too. You can check it out here: http://www.betoyo.com/Their blog appears out of date, but they are very active on Facebook – so it is still an active box subscription site. UPDATE: Along with the new pricing, they’ve updated their website.

3 Anime Bento

Anime Bento is another toy/figure/plushie box. They also sometimes include tshirts and let you choose from sizes small to 2XL (although unlike Level Up it appears you cannot choose men or women’s clothing, which fits differently obviously). However, the items they include are very cute and high quality, I even see Nendoroids on their list of past items. You can learn more and sign up at https://animebento.cratejoy.com/subscribe/20362213_Anime+Bento

2 Omakase

Omakase is a bimonthly subscription box with a different anime series as the theme each month. It is a brand new box, and their second (current) theme is Naruto (yuck). Their first theme was Kill la Kill. Each box has EXCLUSIVE items that are made specifically for Omakase and not available anywhere else. I will very likely subscribe if/when they have a series I like. Since it is bimonthly, you only pay every other month, but unfortunately on the other hand, you only get a box once every other month too. It’s $35 each time. In addition to the cute toys, figures, etc, you get ad free anime streaming (coming in January). Therefore, this box could potentially rival Crunchyroll and steal some subscribers – I say potentially, because, Crunchyroll has deals with tv networks in Japan to bring us anime in as little as 3 hours after it airs on Japanese television. It remains to be seen, how many series, or how timely, the new Omakase anime streaming service will be. However, for just a fraction more than the highest crunchyroll plan, you’d also get a box of neat items every other month. They also promise “exclusive anime content” whatever that is (maybe behind the scenes, interviews with voice actors, etc) I could see that being a bit threat to crunchy if Omakase can keep up with the speed, selection, and volume of anime to be of equal value. You can learn more or sign up at https://www.viewster.com/omakase/

Sadly Omakase is no longer around. With that in mind, I’d like to recommend a new subscription box that I discovered called Yume Twins.

2. Yume Twins – Yume Twins is a super cute, mostly plushy based subscription box. It’s a new box developed by the folks behind Tokyotreat, a Japanese snackbox subscription service. This one is unique in that it is all kawaii shoujo (girly) stuff, mostly around popular anime franchises such as studio ghibli, sailor moon, and sanrio. It costs $23.99 and ships straight from Tokyo to your doorstep. All of the products are licensed, non-counterfeit and it features expensive items like Alpacasoo and exclusive kawaii plushies each month. Check them out over at https://yumetwins.com/

1 Kawaii Box

Kawaii Box is my pick for the best subscription box for geeky girls because all of the items inside are kawaii, girly, and adorable and all of the items are imported from Japan and South Korea making them 100% unavailable in any US store. It includes things like toys, plushies, accessories, beauty items, stationary, and more. It costs just $18.95 a month and includes 10-12 kawaii items in each box. Check them out at http://kawaiibox.com

Edit to Add: i also just discovered DokiDoki – a monthly subscription box by Japan Crate with cute anime themed items including plushies, toys, bentos, stationary, and more from series such as Studio Ghibli Films, Totoro, Sailor Moon, Madoka Magika, Sanrio, Hello Kitty, Animal Crossing and more. It costs $30 a month and ships the first week of each month. You can find it here: http://japancrate.com/dokidoki In addition to all of this, they also give away one Suteki Crate which contains awesome items such as imported region-free nds systems with cute designs and colors. Adorable!

Edit regarding DokiDoki on 6/6/2016 – I ordered the June DokiDoki Crate and did a brief review. I really would not recommend this crate. You can read my review here. http://geekysweetie.com/doki-doki-june-box-opening-subscription-crate-review/

Edit: 5/2016: I also discovered Geek Fuel – and we have a special offer for our readers for $3 off their subscription. Geekfuel is a geek and gamer subscription box, though geared more towards “western” geeks (starwars, dr who, etc) as opposed to “anime geeks and otakus” It’s still an awesome box and you should check it out 🙂 The offer is good on any subscription plan. Learn more and sign up at geekfuel.com or use our link for your special discount: http://fbuy.me/dT0MG

Also I joined the Pusheen Box. I did a Box Opening Review here. Pusheen is a famous character from the internet. He is a cute fat grey striped cat (who reminds me a lot of my own cat). I love this character. This is a quarterly box so that helps cut down costs since you only pay once every 3 months. I recommend this box if you like Pusheen as it has Exclusive officially liscensed pusheen merchandise. Learn more at PusheenBox.com

10 Cat Cafés You Can Visit in North America

Cat Cafés have been a longtime fixture within Japan. These cute café charge a small fee by the hour to let you spend time with the cats in addition to selling food and drink. They allow locals who may not be able to keep pets in their apartment to interact with and enjoy feline company. These trendy cafés also help homeless cats find new homes, either by becoming permanent residents within their café, or by allowing adoptions by the customers who frequent these cafés.

Want to cuddle with some cute felines while sipping tea or eating sweets? The good news is you don’t have to travel to Japan to get your cuddle on. While it seems bizarre, these cat cafés have crossed overseas and began to take root in North America. Here’s our pick for the ten best Cat Café in North America.

Hint the best ones are near the bottom of the list!

  1. Le Café des Chats – Montreal, QC, Canada

This was the first cat café to open up in North America. Unlike many other cat café in North America, this one features kittens and cats that are permanent residents within the café. In other words, they are not available for adoption. However, this draws in repeat visitors who want to interact with their favorite felines. Before their new life as café mascots, these cats came from rescue and shelter organizations. They have some pretty strict policies for guests visiting the café, including forbidding you from waking or feeding any of the cats. Here’s the most educational cat café on our list. They hold public lectures, forums, panels, and workshops to support local animal care agencies, and also educate the public about a variety of cat behavior related topics. It’s also the first environmentally friendly cat café. The menu features only healthy and organic food and beverages. A meeting room can be reserved for private groups. They also have one room strictly full of kittens with no adult cats. All of the cats and kittens in this café are available for adoption. Learn more by visiting http://www.greencatcafe.com

Sneak peak into the final design of the cat lounge.

  1. KitTea – San Francisco, CA, USA

This is the best cat café on the list if you’re a tea lover. They import high quality tea from a small sustainable farm in Kyoto, Japan including Hojicha, Matcha, Sencha, and Genmaicha. The goal is to help as many cats as possible to find loving forever homes through adoption programs within their café. Their standard reservation time is one hour blocks. Children under 9 years old are not permitted in this café to ensure the safety of the cats. This is so far the only cat café that allows you to reserve the entire café and kitties all to yourself for up to 2 hours for private events. This café is set to open in June 2015. More information is available at http://www.kitteasf.com/

America’s first permanent cat cafe is now open at 2869 Broadway in Oakland, CA! We’re also expanding our Cat Zone, learn about that and help us fund the build out by donating at Saving Pets Challenge Fundraiser! The Cat Town Cafe is split into two rooms, the Cafe and the Cat Zone.
The Cat Zone is where:
We have between 6 - 20 free roaming cats who are available for adoption. Meaning, they are coming out of tiny cages of the shelter, and waiting to find a permanent home while here in our Cat Zone.
We allow 14 people to enter every hour on the hour, this is to help limit the stress and over stimulation of our four legged friends.
Walk-ins are welcome, but we highly recommend that you make a Cat Zone Reservation for a $10 donation to Cat Town, especially on weekends! This will ensure your visiting time is available and support a great cause.
You are welcome to bring cafe food and beverage into the Cat Zone, but please don’t bring your own cat!
Volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions you have about cats, adoptions, and cat related things.

Please note:

Cats sleep a lot. They also hide a lot. This is natural and healthy. Our cats meet up to 140 people a day, 5 days a week. If you’re itching for play time, we recommend coming early for the 10AM and 11AM hours, when the cats are most active.
We are a non-profit rescue dedicated to the safety and well-being of our cats. Their comfort and safety is our first priority.
Our cafe is minimal, but awesome. We serve extremely good pour over coffee from Bicycle Coffee, bagels from Authentic Bagel Company, and various treats from Rolling Sloane’s. Plus, we have the friendliest employees you’ll ever meet! We have limited indoor and outdoor seating, and viewing windows into the Cat Zone should we reach capacity.
We are closed Monday & Tuesday to acclimate new cats into the space and give our current residents some much deserved rest.
Cat Town is a non-profit cat rescue, that started in 2011 as a foster based rescue program. Since founding, we’ve helped get over 600 at-risk shelter cats out of the cages of Oakland Animal Services and into loving foster and permanent homes. The Cat Town Cafe is an expansion of our current rescue efforts, and will help us get many more cats out of the shelter and adopted!
The cafe cats are being adopted at a rate we never imagined and we are joyously overwhelmed by the interest, kind words, encouragement, press, and good cheer of our customers, volunteers, employees, and adopters. Thank you so much!
Cafe hours: 9:30 AM - 7 PM Wednesday through Sunday
Cat Zone hours: 10 AM - 7 PM (14 people are let in on the hour every hour)
Come see us at 2869 Broadway, Oakland, CA!
Walk-ins are welcome, and reservations are also taken online. Both walk-ins or pre-registered guests will need to make a small 10 dollar donation to support Cat Town’s rescue efforts. If you would like to adopt one of their cats after making a reservation and a donation, you can apply that 10 dollars towards their adoption fees. You can learn more by visiting their website at http://www.cattowncafe.com/

  1. Meow Palour – New York City, NY, USA

Meow Palour is New York City’s first cat café. It costs only $4 per half hour and you can reserve space for up to a maximum of 5 hours. All the cats are adoptable. “Meow Parlour has teamed up with KittyKind, an all-volunteer, no kill rescue group located in NYC. KittyKind specializes in adopting out cats so if you fall in love, you can apply to adopt one!” Yummy snacks are available in a separate building around the corner; so if you’re hungry, stop there first to purchase your snacks before heading into the Parlour. They allow you to bring your food and beverage into the Parlour as well.

Due to the popularity of this café, reservations should be made well in advance online. They do take a limited number of walk-in clients each day, based on spacing and availability. Spaces go quick, and reservations are often sold out up to 3 months in advance. Visit http://www.meowparlour.com/ to learn more about their cats or browse their menu.
