Curvy Girls Dolls Kickstarter for Plus Sized Balljoint Doll – Get the doll for just a $25 pledge!

Hey please check out this kickstarter for a plus size balljoint doll. It’s 11 inches tall, so it’s tiny. About the height of a Barbie. But look at its voluptuous body. Barbie ain’t got curves like this girl 🙂

Curvy Girls Dolls: Plus Size Fashion Dolls

Curvy Girls Dolls LLC is raising funds for Curvy Girls Dolls: Plus Size Fashion Dolls on Kickstarter! A line of beautiful, plus size fashion dolls. We believe #ACES: Amazing comes in every size!

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

The doll is jointed. Yes, there are Barbies these days who are jointed too. But this doll improves on that joint system by special ankle joints that allow the doll to wear ANY style of shoes, from flats to high heels, and anything in between.

The dolls were designed by a mother of an interracial family who wanted dolls that looked more like herself and her children. The intent of the Curvy Girls movement is to promote body positivity at a young age and teach that Amazing Comes in Every Size #ACES.

I backed the pledge at the $40 level which allows me to select which doll I want to receive. But if you don’t mind receiving a random doll, you can pledge $25 and receive a random doll.

We all know balljoint dolls are super expensive. Even tiny ones, for a legit non-recast are hundreds of dollars.

But don’t be confused, there are some key differences from Curvy Girls compared to traditional balljointed dolls.

1.) They are plastic, not resin. That probably results in a large cost savings there alone

2.) Their hair is rooted. You can’t buy or swap wigs. Of course, they are offering “Customizeable dolls” but the hair is STILL rooted, it’s just unstyled, so you can cut and style it yourself. The customizeable ones also come unpainted so you can do your own faceup, just like a balljointed doll if you want.

3.) Their eyes are not removable / swapable.

But still for this price… good luck finding a jointed Barbie doll for under 25 bucks, and if you do, the joints arent as good as those of the curvygirls who have much more range of movement.

Being the same height as Barbie allows for Curvy Girls to share the same accessories, the doll house, cars, furniture, etc of a Barbie.

There are several different pledge levels. The dolls come in a basic or premium package. The premium one will have an exclusive kickstarter founder’s collector’s box not available ever again outside kickstarter. And the premium one will come with many more outfits, shoes, and accessories. The little Asian girl even comes with a robotic-looking kitty.

Each of the girls have stories and careers to match the diverse real world that curvy women are in each day in real life. Much like how Barbie can be a Doctor or Astronaut, or other traditionally male-dominated roles. Curvy Girls can also be found in various fields such as Scientists, Mechanics, Animal Rescuers, and more.

Let’s help get this kickstarter funded, pick up some cheap balljoint dolls, and promote body positivity in young women everywhere.

Here’s the official press release announcement from Curvy Girls Dolls Below.

CURVY GIRLS DOLLS TO LAUNCH “FAT DOLL” FOR SALE ON KICKSTARTER

Durham, NC – Curvy Girls Dolls LLC (CGD) launched a Kickstarter campaign for their “Fat Doll” on June
6, 2019. Starting at a size 18, Curvy Girls Dolls are truly plus size and will make the perfect addition to the
toy aisle.

The dolls aim to normalize people of all sizes and promote body positivity because it is important to
introduce this idea at a young age. “I grew up a chubby kid, and I never saw plus size people in the media
– at least not positively,” said CEO Joleen.

Studies have show that up to 57% of adolescent girls engage in many unhealthy ways to lose weight
because of the images reflected on TV, magazines, and social media outlets. CFO Bridget wanted to
create dolls that looked like her for her kids because there are no mainstream, inexpensive, plus size
dolls in stores. She wanted kids to have dolls that look as diverse as they do.

Four dolls will be introduced:
● Kind Aliah (Black American) – owner of an animal sanctuary
● Tough Alex (Mexican American) – activist and law student
● Smart Keiko (Japanese American) – robotics engineer
● Strong Quinn (White American) – award winning mechanic

With this Kickstarter campaign, CGD aims to generate enough buzz to hit the ground running with
production and get the dolls ready in time for the holidays. As an indy brand, fundraising is something
crucial for them and they are asking for your help. Will you help in creating a set of diverse and truly plus
size dolls?

About Curvy Girls Dolls
Curvy Girls Dolls LLC (CGD) incorporated in 2018, strives to make playtime fun for people of all sizes. It
designs, markets, and specializes in plus size dolls with unique personalities, fun fashion, and inspiring
character. CGD helps children learn and develop through play.

Children use doll play as an outlet for emotions, to explore scenarios that they may encounter, and have
control over situations. CGD aims to create dolls children play with that are as diverse as the people in
their lives. With their dolls, CGD aspires to normalize people of all sizes and promote body positivity.
CGD acknowledges that body positivity is important to introduce at a young age since children absorb so
much of their surrounding including negative self-images that can last a lifetime.

Cortex Complete Smart Dolls Will Release Soon

According to this post on the official website, the first full, non-hybrid, cortex smartdolls will release for official launch in just 2 weeks on 6/13/19. The models available will include Mirai Anniversary, Gaia, and Melody. They will be fully assembled dolls, and not model kits.

They had a soft launch of Mirai Anniversary and Gaia Complete Cortex dolls earlier this month, which I completely missed.

I am anxious to see what the prices will be on the 13th when the official launch begins.

The vinyl version Smart Dolls cost 52,000 yen, which is approximately $475 USD. For those not familiar with Japanese import dolls, such as Asian ball-jointed dolls or Dollfie Dream, this price may seem shocking. However, for those who are already collecting other similar dolls, these prices are quite reasonable.

I’ve long wanted a Smart Doll myself, but have been waiting to purchase, wanting to see how much cost savings the Cortex version will provide.

The dolls aren’t exactly the same. The Cortex version will have seam lines and gaps and other imperfections. But if the savings justifies the quality differences, I’m all for waiting for the Cortex dolls. I’m completely in the dark here as to what it will cost so I don’t even want to begin to speculate in this blog post.

The official site has much more info about the differences between the various materials that Smart Doll uses for manufacturing.

A few days ago Pre-orders opened for a Hybrid Cortex officially licensed Idol M@ster Smart Doll modeled after Mika Jougasaki. Of course it sold out quickly. Due to being an officially licensed character, this Hybrid Cortex doll actually cost much more than the vinyl versions of Smart Dolls own characters. So that’s not a very good indicator of how much the Smart Doll Complete Cortex version will cost when it launches next month. We will just have to wait and see.

Are you excited about Smart Doll Complete Cortex Dolls? Do you prefer Vinyl? Waiting for the Model Kits? Share your dolls with us in the comments below.

English Edition Of Revue Starlight Re LIVE Idol Simulation Game Comes To North America

Revue Starlight Re LIVE is an idol simulation game based on the popular anime Revue Starlight. The game uses Live 2D technology to bring the anime characters to life. You can pre-register now for the English release at the Pre-Registration website at https://www.en.revuestarlight-relive.com/preregistration/

They are running an event for Pre-Registration where they will give out rare girls based on the number of users who pre-register. So get all of your friends to join so we can all benefit from more Waifus.

The game and anime story follows a group of 9 girls all competing for the center stage, the shining star, lead performer role. The girls who were once friends now find themselves as rivals.

Not many details are available on the pre-registration site, but I expect an experience similar to Love Live School Idol, Bang! Dream Girl’s Band Party, or Idol M@ster.

A game where you collect cute girls, level them up, add them to your team, and play a rhythm game in solo or multiplayer game modes while enjoying a simple slice of life story.

Although the gameplay may be simple, the allure of collecting rare and time-limited girls will keep players coming back.

Google Chromecast Streaming Media Player. See It. Stream It.

Chromecast is designed to make the most of the apps and entertainment already on your phone. Shows, movies, live TV, YouTube, photos and more. It’s all just a tap away from all of your family’s devices.

With rising cable costs, many Americans are “cutting the cord” and choosing to get their entertainment from on-demand streaming services such as Hulu and Netflix.

I too am a “Cord Cutter”, so even though Best Buy has compensated me for sharing product information with you in this blog post, I am genuinely excited about the newest generation of Google Chromecast. I don’t have cable either, I subscribe to a variety of streaming services that allow me to watch more customized entertainment to suit my viewing tastes.

With the new Google Chromecast I can stream my Korean dramas from Viki and Dramafever, or catch up on the latest Japanese anime with Crunchyroll and Funimation.

And unlike my Roku, or PS4, I can even play Android games on my bigscreen TV. This is a huge win for girl gamers. Check out my sister site at http://otomeplay.com for hundreds of otome games, RPGs, Simulation, and Anime Dressup Games available on the Google Play Store.

Google Chromecast is much more than just a movie-watching device. I also love that the newest generation of Chromecast can be controlled with your voice; my old Chromecast couldn’t do that! Plus at only $35, it is one of the most affordable streaming media players on the market.

I Want To Take an Anime and Manga Tour in Japan

OMG… I want to do this. (Maybe Next Year – I don’t have Vacation Time left this year since I will be going to Peru this summer) Their next tour is in just a few weeks, and seems to only happen once a year, in March coinciding with the International Anime Festival AnimeJapan.

https://japandeluxetours.com/japan/group/anime-japan-tours#anime3

Visiting Japan is my life long dream. (sadly, mostly just so I can go shopping for anime, game, and doll stuff lol. Although I do want to do the museums and cherry blossoms and hot springs and other cultural things too – though mostly, I’m just a big geeky nerd who loves anime and wants to go shopping – which is what this whole tour is designed for <3)

Animate - The World's Largest Anime Store

Animate – The World’s Largest Anime Store

It’s not that much money (well OK it is, but it’s cheaper than I expected honestly). Guided 6 Day Anime Tour in Japan which includes hotels and Guides through all the “anime” spots in Japan (since I can’t speak Japanese a Guide would be helpful…)

Cat Heavy Breathing GIF

Only $1,500 a person, includes hotels for each day. I’d just have to have airfare, and LOTTTTTTTTSSSSS of money for food and shopping. Like seriously I’d probably want to have another $1,000 with me just for shopping lol. If I buy a dollfie dream or custom volks doll or something that’d eat half that budget right there. Then there’s all kinds of cheap (but cute) dolls / toys / figurines, etc.

idea intensifies GIF

I wouldn’t want to go by myself either – I would hope my boyfriend would go with me but if not then I’m pretty sure that I could find a friend or family member to take… If I had to pay for both of us that’s $3,000… The tour includes several meals but I’d need money for more meals (Let’s say $100 a day food budget X 5 days $500) Airfaire is probably close to $1,000 a person too So not counting shopping expenses I’d need $5,500… I want to mainly go shopping so I’d want at least $1,000 for shopping for myself that’s $6,500…. which still… isn’t that bad because of all the things this tour includes.

Studio Ghibli Museum

Studio Ghibli Museum

This tour includes all of the Ghibli and other museums, the largest anime stores, and even admission to an anime convention for one day. OMG and an anime theme park another day… OMG it includes real life mario kart racing too…. omg…

Anime GIF

The number 1 place I want to visit actually isn’t on this tour – that place is Doll Point Akihabara – Volks store where you can buy Dollfie Dreams and Asian Balljointed Dolls and Accessories – including some items available only in the store and not sold online.  But that’s OK because the tour gives you free time in the evening and one free day where you’re on your own without a guide.

Doll Point Akihabara

Doll Point Akihabara

My dream / life goal / bucket list… lol…

Now that I have my passport I can actually do stuff like this O_O!!! Now I just need money (lots of money) (and to wait for my vacation time again lol).

OMG!!!! They have a different tour to the Tokyo Game Show and Video Games / Arcades in Japan too. A shorter one, only 3 nights.

And another one which is 8 nights and includes things like the deer park (deer just roam the streets, they’re tame you can pet and feed them, etc). And includes more museums and things too.

Of course the best one is 15 days long – but it’s also the most expensive.

So many awesome tours. I’m definitely doing this (probably the 6 day one) – Hopefully next year once I save up the money.

VIZ MEDIA AND ROSE CITY GAMES PARTNER TO LAUNCH A NEW PUBLISHING PROGRAM FOR INDEPENDENT VIDEO GAMES

The First Original Game To Be Published Is The World Next Door

Portland, OR, and San Francisco, CA, February 6, 2018 – Rose City Games and VIZ Media announce a partnership to debut original, narrative-driven games. VIZ Media, publisher of popular gaming adaptations for POKÉMON, SPLATOON, THE LEGEND OF ZELDA, HOMESTUCK, MONSTER HUNTER and more, will deepen its robust connection to the gaming world. Rose City Games, a leader in the rapidly-developing indie game scene, will introduce new and diverse voices from the world of indie games to the massive pop culture audience VIZ Media has cultivated since its founding.

The first title to be published by VIZ Media will be the supernatural action/adventure game, The World Next Door, developed by Rose City Games and featuring character designs by illustrator Lord Gris.

“It’s no secret that anime and manga fans love video games,” says Brad Woods, Chief Marketing Officer, VIZ Media. ”We’re excited to be able to bring an entirely new offering to our audience. BanG Dream Girls Band Party – English Release in Spring 2018

Bushiroad is bringing us yet another great anime rhythm game.

From the creators of Love Live School Idol Festival, and hot on the heels of the recent announcement of Klab’s English localization of Utapri Utano Princesama Shining Live, Bushiroads has recently announced plans to localize BanG Dream Girls Band Party.

More details can be found on the official website at https://bang-dream-gbp-en.bushiroad.com/

Not only are we getting the mobile game, but also English versions of the Weib Schwarz card decks:

The mobile game will be available in Spring 2018 on Android and IOS

Check out the English Release Trailer Below:

More information can be found in the English fan wikia based on the Japanese versions of the game at http://bandori.wikia.com/wiki/BanG_Dream!_Girls_Band_Party!

I have not played the Japanese versions myself just yet. I’ve read that it is the highest grossing mobile game in Japan right now.

From what I have seen in the wikia and official website, the game features a lot of fun unique elements that make it a slight step up from Love Live School Idol Festival.

The feature I’m most excited about is the costumes. Each time you get a 3 or 4 star or higher card, you unlock a new costume for your characters that you can equip and see on their chibi or cameo appearances while playing the game.

Other differences between Love Live include “Multi-Lives” the ability to play online in real time with other players – I know Love Live School Idol Festival offers this ability during certain events, but in GBP, it is always available.

You can also trade in your duplicate cards for seals which can be exchanged for limited event items

The biggest difference between GBP and LLSIF is that there are no song types currently, so it doesn’t matter which girls are in your party, even though each girl has her own attributes such as Powerful, Pure, Cool, and Happy. These attributes determine your score multipliers. But you no longer get the bonus of let’s say using a team with primarily high “Pure” cards in a “Pure Song”. However, to get the most out of your score multiplier, it is best to keep a team of same attribute idols. Such as “Pure” or Cool, because of the items you can equip that boost single attributes. You can also further maximize your score by keeping your team all within the same band such as Poppin Party or Pastel Pallets or Roselia. This is because you can buy special band equipment that enhances members’ stats from specific band groups and only 1 type of each item can be equipped at a time, forcing you to choose which band you want to focus on.

This may change, as the game is still relatively new at this time.

Hello Happy World

Hello Happy World

You can also, not only unlock songs by reading the main story and playing the game, but also unlock new songs by purchasing additional songs with special in-game currency.

There are areas you can explore and items you can place in these areas as well that will impact your band members’ stats as mentioned above.

GBP is a multi-media project, similar to Love Live School Idol Festival. It includes real bands comprised of the characters seiyuu’s (voice actresses), as well as an anime, card game, and mobile game, and various merchandising.

The announcement of an English version of Girls Band Party makes me so happy and excited. I still hold out hope that some day Bandai will release English versions of their Idolm@ster games – other than the $60 ones that they used to sell in the app stores. I mean, come on, just give us English versions of the free to play games, and collect money from us “dumb Americans” who want to spend $$$ on virtual “waifu” lol. Idolm@ster still remains my favorite idol game, mostly just because of the artwork, I mean, being able to see the girls actually performing on stage, like in Idolm@ster Theater Days is amazing!! Live 2D is the best thing to happen to anime games! 🙂

Vote for Your Favorite KPOP and KDrama Stars in 13th Annual Soompi Awards

Rakuten Viki Joins Forces with Twitter for the 13th Annual Soompi Awards as Voting Opens

Big Hit Entertainment’s BTS and Globally Acclaimed Series ‘While You Were Sleeping,’ and ‘Goblin’ Lead Nominees from Korean Television and Music

SAN FRANCISCO – January 24, 2018 – Soompi (@Soompi), a division of Rakuten Viki and the leading source for Korean pop culture news and fandom, today announced the nominations for the 13th Annual Soompi Awards, a yearly celebration of the best and brightest television and music that emerged from Korean entertainment this past year. This year’s Awards will also mark the first collaboration with Twitter, which will include both the highly popular #TwitterBestFandom Award and the first-ever Twitter emojis tied to Awards-related hashtags during the voting period from 23 January to 20 February 2018 PST.

This year, the Soompi Awards will get its very own Twitter emoji for the first time. The official emoji is the symbol of the Soompi Awards, and it will appear in Tweets throughout the voting period when fans use any of the following hashtags: #SoompiAwards#13thSoompiAwards, or #SoompiAwards2018.

The Twitter Best Fandom Award allows fans to vote for their favorite K-Pop groups on Twitter by Tweeting the #TwitterBestFandom hashtag along with the #Team hashtag followed by the name of the group. For example, to vote for BTS, fans can Tweet #TwitterBestFandom #TeamBTS. There are two separate 24-hour voting periods for the Twitter Best Fandom Award: from 3am, 27 January to 3am, 28 January 2018 PST and from 3am, 3 February to 3am, four February 2018 PST. The official list of team hashtags can be found here. Soompi will give away special Twitter Best Fandom boxes to 20 lucky voters, and Twitter will launch another emoji for the #TwitterBestFandom hashtag. Last year, Soompi Awards-related hashtags trended worldwide on Twitter for more than eight consecutive hours, with #TeamGOT7 coming out on top.

Last year, the Soompi Awards gathered an incredible 100 million votes on Soompi.com and on social media platforms like Twitter, more than doubling the 2016 totals, and underscoring the massive global fandom around Korean entertainment.

“Every year, we’re amazed by the passion and support of the global fans of Korean entertainment,” said Susan Kang, Founder of Soompi and Head of Marketing at Rakuten Viki. “This year, our goal is to blow previous online voting numbers out of the water. With our incredible partnerships in place, I’m confident we can show the world just how popular K-Pop and Korean TV is becoming around the globe.”

“Goblin” and “While You Were Sleeping” lead this year’s nominees in the K-Drama categories with 11 and 10 nominations, respectively. Boy group BTS tops the K-pop categories with eight nominations. Nominees are calculated based on Soompi’s weekly music chart and an expert panel comprised of Soompi staff. Other categories include “Actor of the Year” and the “Fuse Music Video of the Year.” The full list of nominations can be found below and online at www.soompi.com/awards.

Global powerhouse K-pop group MONSTA X will be this year’s emcee for the K-Pop categories and Oh My Girl will be the emcee for the K-Drama categories.

Fans will be able to vote in the 30 K-Drama and K-pop categories until February 20 on Soompi.com. Winners will be determined by votes from the web and from the Soompi Music Chart. Voting can be found atwww.soompi.com/awards.

Since 2005, the Soompi Awards has been the platform for international fans to celebrate and honor the best in Korean entertainment. Last year’s winners include Lee Min Ho, EXO, and more.
