This Is Our Conclusion covering any games for girls on our remaining consoles.
27.) NES – The first gaming console in my house. It didn’t have many RPGs at all but had some other games I fondly remember from my childhood.
28.) Coleco Vision – I picked one up at a yard sale years ago with some games. It’s a very old rare console. There was really only one or two RPGs.
There’s a fan-based group or company making some homebrew RPGs on Colecovision…
And they’re still making new Colecovision games even as I’m writing this post in the year of our lord 2020 lol. Here’s one of their current projects
29.) Virtual Boy – Nothing to see here, move along. This whole console was weird. Black and Red graphics, googles, and a stand where you had to hunch down to put your eyes up to the view finder. It hurt my eyes and hurt my back and didn’t have any RPGs. I sold mine and all of its games for a lot of money though because for some reason it’s highly sought after as a novelty item I guess.
I’d like there to be a # 30 to round this out – but I have only owned 29 consoles in my life. Not bad I guess, I started collecting around 8 years old and am 39 now, so about one console a year? more or less? lol. I already pre-ordered PS5, but it’s too soon to tell if it’ll have a lot of games for girls or leave girl gamers behind.
This Page Is All About Games For Girls on the original Microsoft Xbox and its successor the Microsoft Xbox 360
I figured there’s so few games for girls on these platforms I can combine them into one page.
23.) Xbox 360 – Lost Odyssey was one of my favorite games of all time. The story was meant to be part of a series, but Microsoft decided people don’t want to play RPGs. 2 years ago they renewed their trademark for Lost Odyssey and the rumor mill began spinning with either a sequel or remaster in the works. A remaster would not make me buy an Xbox One or Series X, but a sequel, if it was an Xbox exclusive and I couldn’t get it on PC or any other console, I’d probably buy the damn console for this game, knowing full damn well it would be the only game I’d probably play on that console that I paid $500+ for lol. I was also initially excited about Fable and Elderscrolls and a few other games but felt mostly let down by lack of RPGs, and severely disappointed in Fable, because it over promised and under delivered.
Here’s some games for girls on Xbox 360. Most of these could also be found on Playstation or PC which in my opinion defeats the purpose of buying a 360 for any of these except for Lost Odyssey.
24.) Xbox – Again elder scrolls and fable and a few rpgs here or there, nothing really exciting. Most all the games were on PS2, 3, or PC, etc. After being burnt twice by Microsoft I just decided they don’t give a fuck about gamer girls and stopped buying their consoles. Like I said if they release an RPG that I want, I’ll buy their consoles again, but not until then. I would like to “buy American” and support an American business, but Microsoft misses the mark every damn time.
With the exception of Lost Odyssey (which was on the 360 and not original Xbox) which didn’t sell well I guess but is what I would want to be playing compared to the sports and shooters and crap that doesn’t appeal to me in the least. Microsoft is losing money by alienating female gamers and focusing only on hardcore gamers.
That’s too bad, in my opinion, that’s their loss. Why do you think their consoles failed in Japan and they’ve already had to discount the Series X in Japan even before its release? Because their games are shit. That’s why. Might as well be a $500 doorstop since there’s literally no good “exclusives” especially story driven exclusives. There are RPGs here or there, but literally, every single one of them except for Lost Odyssey can be found on PS4 or PC or elsewhere, along with a ton of other games exclusive to PC or exclusive to PS4. Xbox just doesn’t get it.
They don’t get the importance of exclusive games or diversity. Even games they claim are “exclusive” are 9 times out of 10 also available on PC. That doesn’t make them “exclusive” lol. Microsoft doesn’t care because they’re making money off of the PCs and operating systems and other things on the PCs too. Which begs the question why even make gaming consoles if everything can be done on a PC? I know not everyone has a “gaming rig” with Nvidia or Radeon graphics cards. But they could buy one of those graphic cards for the same price as the Xbox console. And hook it up to the TV with either wireless or HMDI or other means. Head Scratcher there.
No one is saying to stop making shooting games or to stop making fighting games or to stop making sports games or to stop making action games… but why not both?!!! Why not add a few RPGs? I’d buy the new console and the RPGs and my fiance would probably buy the other crap I mean games, so then you’d be making more money. But instead, you turn away and alienate an entire demographic group with your stupid decisions. RPGs are also more popular in Japan with males and female gamers. You could improve your global strategy by giving us some damn good exclusive RPGs like a sequel to Lost Odyssey, but alas, until then, I’m not buying any more Microsoft consoles.
But rant over. Here’s a list of girl games on the original Xbox, small as it may be.
This Page Is All About Games For Girls on the original Nintendo Wii
22.) Wii – Xenoblade is the defining game for girls on this console. I think there were also a few tales of_ games on this console and maybe a few other RPGs here or there. The Wii U was backwards compatible with the Wii, making Wii obsolete if you upgraded to the Wii U, plus the Wii U had its own library of games that Wii couldn’t play.
This Page Is All About Games For Girls on the Sega Gamegear
21.) Gamegear – Sega’s first and maybe only handheld. It had some surprisingly good games and it was full color unlike its rival, Gameboy, at that time. Most of its games were platformers “mascot” style games so for this countdown there’s really only a handful of games that fit the criteria to make our list. My favorite gamegear game was Shining Force the sword of hajya.
This Page Is All About Games For Girls on Nintendo Gamecube
20.) Gamecube – Skies of Arcadia is Gamecube’s saving grace. It was also available on Sega Dreamcast. Dreamcast had many other wonderful games for girls. Gamecube had maybe Harvest Moon and some Animal Crossing? lol.
This Page Is All About Games For Girls on Nintendo Wii U
19.) Wii U – Wii U’s saving grace was Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE. And if that game had not been re-released on Nintendo Switch I would rank Wii U higher in our countdown because I absolutely fricken LOVED that game. Tokyo Mirage Sessions was exclusive to Wii U and was the reason I bought a Wii U. There’s also a version of Breath of the Wild for Wii U. There really weren’t many other RPGs of note for Wii U. The Wii U was backwards compatiable with the Wii though allowing you to play games like Xenoblade and some of the Tales of_ games that were released on the Wii. The original Wii actually had a lot more games for girls than Wii U. But since you can play those Wii games on the Wii U, the Wii U trumps the Wii.
This Page Is All About Games For Girls on Nintendo N64
18.) N64 – Really not much here. Zelda Ocarina of Time is most people’s favorite zelda game of all time, but I still greatly preferred a Link to the Past. I do rank Ocarina higher than even the latest Zelda breath of the wild, but they are very different games. Linear story vs Open world exploration. Pros and cons. Mask of Majora was a sleeper hit and direct sequel to Ocarina of Time. Both of those zeldas were better in my opinion than Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. It’s really these 2 Iconic Zelda games that secure the N64 the 17th spot on our countdown. Quest 64 was a terrible RPG and really the only other good game for girls was Ogre Battle 64. I think losing Squaresoft was a big blow to Nintendo. They changed their strategy and lost their roots. Since N64 they have focused on children and family games and almost ignored JRPGs completely. I am pleased with Nintendo Switch they are pushing back to their JRPG roots and yes, Mario 64 was a great platformer game, one of the best Mario games, and there were a lot of “family” “mascot” type games but just not (m)any story rich games on this console. Here’s what I could find for narrative driven games on N64.
This Page Is All About Games For Girls on Nintendo DS
16.)Nintendo DS – Most of the best of Nintendo’s handheld girls games were on the regular DS. Since 3DS and 2DS can play NDS games, the original DS slides into our 16th spot since it was made obsolete somewhat by the next generation which as you’ve seen above, also had its own library of games. My favorite Nintendo DS games by far are Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side, but konami has never released it in North America. They have been fan translated and they’re easy enough to patch. They are among my top 10 games of all time hands down. But for this countdown, I told myself that I was only going to try to focus on commercially released titles. There were still many great Nintendo DS Games for girls including the following.
