Doodle Champion Island Games by Google Celebrates Tokyo Olympics

I just woke up and what an interesting thing to see today as I opened Google.

Today’s Google Doodle is actually a little RPG Game featuring a cat hero who joins one of many teams focused around the theme of the Tokyo Olympics using folklore and mythology from Japan as the basis for a short little story. You’ll see famous legends such as Tanooki, Otohime, Kappa, and more as you walk around a fairly large sized world and engage with the various animal spirit inhabitants who live there, all while playing some fun mini-games like “Artistic Swimming” which is basically like DDR.

The first time I tried it using the default control settings it was difficult for me, since I’m on a laptop. My arrow keys are tiny and in a weird place on my keyboard and very close together.

But then I found out Google went above and beyond and even let you set up your own controls (Click the compass and you’ll find more settings you can configure). So I switched my keys to WASD which is more comfortable for me on a compact keyboard.

There’s tons of anime-inspired cutscenes, and an interesting, sometimes even sad story such as one woman wants to send a letter to her dead son underwater in Otohime’s palace. There’s sidequests like this and lots to do – unfortunately I only have about 20 minutes right now before I need to start work. But from what I saw, there’s tons to do, you could play all day.

I’m not even a big sports or Olympics enthusiast, but I am a big Tokyo Japan enthusiast and with the cute Retro RPG vibe and animal spirit villagers, this might be Google’s best Doodle yet.

Are you going to watch the Olympics? I’ll probably watch some of them myself. My fiance is really into sports and so we’ve watched the last few Olympics together. It should be fun to watch. It is unfortunate that Japan is still struggling with the Corona Virus and not allowing spectators at the Olympic Games. 48 Hours ago they declared a state of emergency and shut down their borders to foreigners – I read on Google. I thought their borders were already closed – at least to those of us in the USA – because I had a trip planned there and had to cancel due to the virus. But maybe they opened and reclosed them, or still had them open to certain countries – but now it’s a complete travel ban. Last I heard only like 20% of their population had been vaccinated. And with everyone in such close proximity at all times, that’s a recipe for disaster. Thoughts and prayers for everyone’s safety over there.

Anyways, since you can’t be there to watch the games, check out Google’s Doodle today – It’s a real gem.

Interactive Slot Machine Games

Gone are the days of just putting in your tokens and pulling the handle, watching the reels spin, and praying. Now, more than ever, players are demanding more interactive and immersive gaming experiences.

The best USA online casino sites are also starting to add more interactive titles to their game portals.

Here are some of my favorite interactive slot machine games:

Jackpot Party:

What’s great about it:

  • You can get a “Jackpot Party” scene where you can continue to open dozens of presents full of money until you open a “party pooper” – such as a police officer or alien, just to name a few.
  • If you should open a party pooper, it’s not game over, as you get one last chance to pick an item on-screen to redeem yourself by revealing a “party saver”
  • There are multipliers and other goodies hidden in the presents too.
  • Even if you don’t get a party saver, you still keep your winnings that you’ve opened so far and go back to the main game to wait for your next “jackpot party”
  • Sometimes there’s “surprise parties” – where you don’t even need the “jackpot party” symbols on the reels. The party just loads randomly.
  • There’s also “dance parties” where he keeps dancing and making money for random lengths of time.
  • This is my fiance and mine’s favorite slot machine at The Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, PA, but you can also play Jackpot Party and other casino games online

The Wizzard Of Oz:

What’s great about it:

  • You can choose to spend a little more to up the chances of witchcraft
  • The wicked witch may appear
  • When I played it (briefly) she appeared quickly and next thing I knew there’s tornadoes and we’re dropping the house on her, just like in the movie
  • Then there’s a very very long musical video scene “ding dong the witch is dead, the wicked witch is dead” and the exciting sound of money flying around
  • I played for less than 15 minutes and made $50
  • The screen is huge and it’s a 2 seater game – fun for date nights or co-op play
  • It’s very loud and exciting

The Simpsons

What’s great about it:

  • I never got to play this one in person – it was always very busy every time I went. :*( – They removed it now, I think for the Wizard of Oz if I’m not mistaken.
  • It had all of your favorite simpson characters and locations
  • Some bonus rounds included Moe’s tavern, the donut shop, the nuclear power plant, and other iconic scenes from the Simpsons
  • Since I didn’t actually play this one, I’m not sure what your objective was in each of those scenes, but I did watch other people play, and their participation and interaction was absolutely required in those scenes

Those are my three favorite interactive slot machine games. How about you? Which slot machines do you like to play? Do you prefer playing online, or at real casinos? I hate that they allow smoking in real casinos so I actually prefer to play online whenever possible. Here, in Pittsburgh they temporarily put a ban on smoking in the casinos due to covid and it’s sooo nice. I’ll be so sad when that ban is lifted lol.

Four Kings Casino Free To Play Online Casino Simulation Game

Four Kings Casino is a game available for multiple handhelds, consoles, and PCs. It is a simulation experience and not a real money casino. Of course, there are various items you can purchase for real money, but they are optional and not required.

I’ve played the Steam and Nintendo Switch versions of Four Kings Casino and would recommend them to anyone who enjoys casino-styled games. This game is like Second Life or The Sims, except full of exciting casino games.

It’s so well simulated, that I was nervous at first about if it was really free to play or not. But have no fear, the base version of the game is in fact free to play. Of course, you don’t win real money either, but you don’t lose anything either, so you can take your time to learn new games or try things you normally wouldn’t spend money on at a real money casino.

Four Kings Casino is unique in that you play as an avatar in a very realistic simulated casino online with hundreds of other real players in real-time too.

One of my favorite things about Four Kings Casino is you can dress up and customize your avatar with in-game items.

There are many different table games from poker to blackjack to roulette, or maybe you prefer trying your luck at the virtual slot machines.

You can chat with other players as you play in the online casino. And since it’s mostly free to play, you don’t have to worry about losing big money.

The level of detail and the way it simulates an actual real casino is very creative.

You begin the game in a nice hotel suite and can return to the suite to freshen up or customize your avatar. There are even cute pets who can follow your avatar around.

Now you don’t have to leave Fido and Fluffy to experience realistic casino games in the comfort of your home.

Check out Four Kings Casino. Let me know what your favorite casino games are.

I enjoy the social and sim-like aspects of this game. It also gives you plenty of tokens to start out, and daily login awards and bonuses to keep you playing for free comfortably without forcing you to buy in-game items or currency.

Why Are Gacha Games So Popular?

Gacha Games are often free to play mobile games with various time-limited collectible items which can be obtained with in-game, or real-world currency. The items usually range in rarity from common to super or even ultra-rare.

The word Gacha actually is slang for Gachapon, which is a sound made by toy capsule machines in Japan. Unlike the toy capsule machines in the USA, the ones in Japan are full of actually really nice items. Many of the items have tie-ins to famous anime or video games and are much higher quality in terms of material and construction when compared to capsule toys in the United States. Also, like the mobile games, the contents in Gacha Machines are rotated frequently to feature seasonal items or special collaborations, making the race to collect your favorites even more exhilarating.

Some examples of Gacha Games include:

  • Love Live
  • Idol M@ster
  • Shining Nikki / Love Nikki
  • Genshin Impact
  • Alice Closet
  • Line Play
  • Dream Girlfriend
  • Hello Kitty World
  • Pokecolo
  • And many other examples

It is a game mechanic loved by companies because it draws a lot of players to spend real-life money to collect the items before time runs out.

But why do so many people love playing Gacha Games? In some ways, Gacha Games can get really expensive and addictive, just like online gambling – after all, many people are spending real-world money on these mobile game Gacha Machines, for just pictures of items in a digital game. All too often, these digital games meet demise and leave the users empty-handed. But just like gambling, whether win or lose, players have fun testing their luck.

To answer why people enjoy online gambling or Gacha style video games, you don’t need to think very hard. Gambling in all forms can be very addictive… and even more so when you win big. There’s nothing more satisfying than getting that rare 5 star item in your game… well except for maybe getting lucky and winning a real cash jackpot. Afterall, you could then use some of that money to spend back in your mobile Gacha Game, or wherever else you’d like to use it.

For my readers in Australia, if you’re looking for a fun gambling site for real-world money, be sure to check out the best au online casino

The bottom line is, people enjoy the excitement and anticipation of Gacha Games. Scoring that rare premium item, especially if it’s time limited, gives you major bragging rights in the game.

Many Gacha related items are used as a form of self expression and dressup. This makes it even easier to show off your rare items. Other Gacha items such as mounts or equipment may give you an edge in PVP or PVE combat. Yet others might give you exclusive characters to add to your party.

There are many ways in which games are exploring implenting Gacha like mechanics into both free to play and pay to play games.

What are some of your favorite Gacha Games? Or what are some of the most exciting Gacha Items you’ve received?

Here’s Why I Ordered A Steam Deck

Kotaku recently penned an article about how they don’t see who would purchase a Steam Deck. I ordered my Steam Deck yesterday, and here’s why Steam Deck is for me. PS: You can preorder your Steam Deck from Valve here. Steam Deck will launch in December 2021.

What is Steam Deck? It’s kinda a Nintendo Switch “Clone” or “Rip Off” for lack of a better word – sorry, but it is – there’s lots of these clones out there – I have one from China for like $50 with some emulators and roms lol. BUT the one thing that makes Steam Deck different from these other Nintendo Switch like devices – Access to millions of games from the Steam Library – thousands of which I already own. The docking station will be sold separately – which is a bummer given how expensive the base units are.

Reasons Why I Pre-Ordered The Most Expensive $649 512GB Steam Deck:

I’m a gamer without PC or Console Bias – That is to say, I play games from all consoles, handhelds, PCs, mobile devices, whatever. I don’t care. I’m here for the games, thx.

Steam does have some questionable inventions when it comes to hardware which I’ve never purchased any of them myself – but you know who else has had questionable inventions in gaming – literally everyone? Nintendo’s Wii U flopped because people didn’t understand the difference between Wii and Wii U and the touch pad thing never took off. And Nintendo Switch – I love it so much, I bought it twice – the original and the lite – but my controllers are constantly getting sent back to fix drift and leaving me buying new expensive controllers – and Sega? Their consoles were amazing – and I deeply love all of them – even 32X and Dreamcast – and others that were “Flops” – And then there’s poor ill fated Sony Vita – what went wrong for the poor little Vita with a cult following of Otome and Visual Novel fans – for one thing – marketing and price point – and lots of other things – so so what, if Steam’s hardware has a “questionable track record”?

I already have a Steam account and over 1,200 games (1,273 to be exact).

How many Nintendo games do I have? Probably around 60? How many do I see owning within the lifetime of the Switch? Maybe 300? Max?

Yeah, some of the games I have purchased twice. I go back and forth between if I prefer handheld gaming or if I prefer my laptop (which might as well be a desktop since I haven’t moved it ((aside from actually physically moving to a new address about 2 weeks ago)) in like 6 months. So I did purchase some games twice – especially if they were on sale lol. For example, in the Steam recent summer sale, I splurged and picked up harvest moon mineral town again even though I have it on Switch too – there’s other examples I can think of – in the reverse, I’ve had Clannad on Steam for years, and decided to pick it up on Switch to enjoy it more easily / portably).

Now with Steam Deck, I don’t have to decide if I want to be Portable or if I want to be at a Desk… Or if I want to connect to a TV or other device – I have that freedom with one copy of the game and one client (Steam)

I will still buy Nintendo Switch exclusives and still love my Switch. Switch Lite is lighter weight and easier to carry (I’m guessing, I mean Steam Deck looks huge as heck and heavy and downright uncomfortable.) I mean the whole reason I bought Switch Lite even though I already owned a Switch was because the regular Switch overtime was cramping my little female gamer delicate hands/fingers/wrists. I much prefer the Switch Lite and only turn on original Switch now for multi-player fun – but that’s just me and my family/friends preference – your mileage may vary.

But now with Steam Deck if I want one save file and cloud saves (not all games support that – but most in fact do) – I can go back and forth comfortably from my bed or the couch to the desk to even on the road, outside, wherever I go.

I am unclear on how these games will be accessed outside the home – but with my cellplan or cable internet plan, I can enable hotspots (or use many hotspots provided through my cable plan, or free wifi hotspots (I know security risks). I’ll probably just stick to my phone hotspot). I do worry about lag/slow down from hotspot only wifi when outside the home. Especially in a rural area where I live.

But like I said above, sometimes I honestly do just want to “get up and stretch” or move to a different room, or see a different view for awhile – Steam Deck allows me to do just that.

Imagine if you will for a moment, the practicality of this little machine for LAN Parties – or playing games face to face with friends – like actual PC games – In the 90s – early 2k A LOT of people would lug around their huge-ass gaming rig PCs – Monitors, Keyboards, Tower Units – Heck, even now with gaming laptops – they’re still heavy – my 16 inch Razer (one of the lightest/smallest weight gaming laptops) is still probably about 14 lbs with battery and then there’s the cables and the mouse and other accessories – right? And once you’re at your friends’ house (or they’re at yours) or you’re at an actual convention or party of some kind – you’ll have reliable internet so the question of how will this perform on less desirable internet connections becomes pretty irrelevant. It’s literally a portable little PC Gaming machine – perfect for LAN Parties, or just taking to a friend’s house. And as you know, there’s tons of multiplayer PC games that we just don’t have on Switch or other handhelds.

So I think that’s a big gold star for Steam Deck right there – I know people like to get together to game – especially now with the vaccine and ability to get out and see our friends and families again. Those who game together stay together.

But that’s not all…

It’s speculated that Steam Deck will also allow you to run emulation – I dunno if I will try it – My Steam account did get hacked one time a few years ago – it was a scary experience. I hadn’t logged in in a year or so and so they had done some damage for sure. But Steam’s support was awesome and helped restore my account and now with the 2FA (it wasn’t available back when I was hacked I think) I feel more secure – nothing is ever 100% secure – but hey, it makes me feel more secure even if it’s a false sense of security in some ways lol. – Still I dunno if I’d load it full of roms and emus – so many viruses these days. I have a cheap as hell handheld that I bought on Aliexpress (that I will review some day probably) – that also looks like a Nintendo Switch clone – I legit only bought it for one game that came preloaded on it – one of my ALL TIME favorite games, Azure Dream – it came with hundreds or thousands of other roms and emus preloaded – but I can also add my own if I want to. I also bought a modded DS XL or something (I forgot the exact model) that was modded by someone on Etsy (their shop is no longer in business last I checked). He custom loaded the 3 DS games I really wanted – the trio of Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side games – probably my favorite game series ever – plus thousands of other preloaded DS games – for like under $350 – so no, I didn’t buy Steam Deck for emulation – and pay twice that price LOL. I also hear PSP or Vita modded is an awesome device for emulation – I just don’t really have a need for it? I have other devices for that? At one point, it was tempting to me to pick up a Vita, but now most of the Otome games have made their way over to a new home on Nintendo Switch.

I’m not a “hardcore” gamer? I do know Steam Deck can play hardcore games – but, in MOST cases, those aren’t my cup of tea. No, I’m a casual gamer. A casual gamer, who already owns a Switch and a Switch Lite, and DS, and pretty much every other console/handheld ever since the first 8 bit NES…. What’s one more “console” or device? I bought them all – except the last two Xboxes…. If Xbox would make a sequel or something similar to Lost Odyssey, I would buy the latest console JUST FOR THAT ONE GAME – seriously – one of the best RPGs of all time. That’s the type of gamer I am – the type who will buy a device JUST FOR ONE EXCLUSIVE GAME. Yup that’s me.

You might be like OMG that’s too expensive, that’s a waste of money – but I see people drive $50,000 luxury cars – when a $20,000 car gets better gas mileage (and gas is approaching $4 again (thank you Biden :(). I see people drink expensive alcohol drinks every night – or go out to expensive dinners (I’m guilty of the food thing – I don’t like to cook often lol). Take expensive vacations, play sports that require special expensive equipment and gear – whatever – just for the love of their hobbies.

So what’s $649 at the end of the day?

Plus you know, you don’t NEED the most expensive model – because you can use SD cards or external storage – I just prefer as much on board storage as I can get – but that’s just me personally. My Laptop also only has 512 GB – and it’s not much – I bought an external 8TB hard drive that stays plugged in and run my Steam games from there.

For Nintendo Switch – also not much storage space 32GB in both the original and Switch Lite – but like the Steam Deck it can also use SD cards (thank god). I have a 2TB card in both of them I think. (I buy a lot of digital games lol).

Lets look at the numbers:

Nintendo costs $299 for the original or $199 for the Switch Lite – both come with 32GB of onboard storage – but if you like digital games – which I do – you’re gonna need a memory card – let’s say at LEAST 500GB to get started, and those aren’t cheap! Best Buy and Game Stop are both selling those for $129 – and that’s a “sale price” so let’s add $299 + $129 = $428 – or $328 for the Switch Lite.

To be fair, that amount of money would only get you a 64GB Steam Deck, so yes, Nintendo is still much cheaper and more affordable there. Because 64GB is still not enough space to install many games. So you’d still need some SD cards.

Who has the bigger game library? Clearly, Steam does. Kotaku argues that many people will prefer Switch due to Nintendo’s exclusives. – Yes, Nintendo’s exclusives are fun – I own many myself such as Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Zelda, and on and on (I’m terrible at Smash Brothers so I don’t own that one lol. My friends have it though and I do play it sometimes).

I do like I can get games I can’t get anywhere else on Switch – I mean that’s the whole reason I buy consoles or handhelds is if they have exclusive titles I want.

OK but what are some examples of games I love on Steam that aren’t on Nintendo (or any other devices) Here are a few off the top of my head:

  • Princess Maker – Nintendo has 2 of them – Steam has 5 of them (and I own them all already – and on a side note, really wish someone would make an English version of Princess Maker 4 (it’s my favorite.))
  • Summer Pockets – a visual novel by Key – the creators of Clannad – might some day land on Switch – some day – because Switch does have Clannad (and I’m pretty sure Switch has Little Busters too – I couldn’t get into that game for some reason).
  • Crusader Kings – No switch ports of any of those 3 games
  • Mabinogi – haven’t played it in awhile – but it’s cuuute
  • Ragnarok Online
  • Tree of Savior
  • (Lots of MMORPGs actually – so if you like MMORPGs – Steam Deck is for you)
  • Wildermyth – recently released on PC – may some day head to Switch – but who knows – enjoying this one
  • 100% Orange Juice
  • Agarest War series – It’s a little hentai-ish at times – but still an anime RPG series that Switch is missing
  • To The Moon and Bird Story
  • Sometimes Always Monsters – They do oddly have the other game Always Sometimes Monsters (I forget which game is first lol – I have both on steam and beat the first one and barely touched the 2nd one yet.).
  • Battleblock Theater
  • Ame No Marginal – Rain Marginal
  • Da Capo – Easily one of my favorite series – no lie. I know Steam doesn’t have the whole series – but they have Da Capo 3 R – and I purchased the others from directly from Manga Gamers – beat the first one years ago – and have yet to play the others yet but – easily, very easily – one of the best visual novel series ever – top 5.
  • Harmonia – another visual or kinetic novel
  • Himawari – another visual novel
  • Higurashi – horror visual novel

So as you can see, Steam Deck is good for girl gamers who play a lot of visual novels or Otome games too – although admittedly Switch has a ton of Otome and Visual Novels too 🙂

The list of games I enjoy not available on Switch goes on….

  • King’s Quest (all of them – much love!)
  • Inherit The Earth
  • Willy Beamish – I actually didn’t see this on Steam – but it’s on GOG – it remains to be seen what Steam Deck allows us to install or play. I have heard that we can install other software and even other operating systems – but that could be a rumor?
  • Gabrielle Knight
  • Sam and Max
  • Other old-school “point and click” style games
  • Sonicomi – absolutely love that dressup game.
  • Littlewitch Romanesque
  • Lucky Rabbit Reflex and Edge of Elsewhere – 2 fun Otome Games – quite similar to Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side
  • Magical Diary Horse Hall and Wolf Hall – 2 more fun otome games
  • Dandelion Wishes Brought To You and Nameless – both Otome games by Cheritz – they are both fantastic
  • The Sims – With all of my custom content installed so they won’t be ugly – I just cannot play Sims without CC (custom content) – Man that alone is a huge incentive for Steam Deck casual gamers right there.
  • Utawarerumono
  • Yakuza (all of them)

Those two are available on steam or playstation (or probably Xbox) but now can be in a handheld console the size of a Switch. – Niiiice.

Literally, thousands of other games.

So for people like me, who already own these games, and prefer buying digital over physical copies of games, Steam Deck is a no brainer – I have my reasons for preferring digital – such as don’t worry about getting scratches on the discs, or breaking the cartridges, or losing the cartridges – don’t worry about (physical) space to store all my games, etc – I know physical has advantage in that a.) it’ll always be there if the game ever gets pulled or the digital service goes belly up – and b.) it looks nice in a collection – if you have (physical) space to display all your games – but for me, I love digital – I do own a fair amount of physical too though. Shrugs.

And when it comes to digital, Steam is already my preferred provider – yes they don’t have everything – some stuff is direct from JAST, MangaGamer or GOG or other providers – but they have A LOT – probably MILLIONS of games.

Steam Deck is not “JUST” for hardcore gamers – I think I illustrated plenty of examples of games on Steam that Girl Gamers and Casual Gamers will love that aren’t on Nintendo Switch.

Nothing’s going to take away my love for Nintendo Switch (or any of my other consoles and devices).

But why slam the Steam Deck like that?

Why you gotta hate, bro?

Why not both?

/shrugs 🙂

Tell me, are you getting a Steam Deck? Which model did you buy (or would you buy)? And what are your reasons for wanting a Steam Deck?

Best Women’s Wide Width Shoes For Walking All Day At Walt Disney World

I’m going to Disney World in October 2021. I am still trying to find that perfect pair of shoes. I have a very very wide flat foot and constant feet/leg/knee pain. I’ve asked around and purchased some shoes based on recommendations from others online. But even some of those recommendations didn’t work out for me. Here’s what’s worked, and what has been returned so far.

Updated 8/01/2021 (newest updates near top):

Easy Spirit Tabata Sandals

I’m so excited to tell you about these shoes. These are my favorite favorite pair from this whole list so far!!

The item I purchased was:

Easy Spirit
Tabata 7 Denim 8.5 WW (EE)
ASIN: B08TVN1NG4

Easy Spirit Tabata 7 | Zappos.com

Tabata 7 by Easy Spirit at Zappos.com. Read Easy Spirit Tabata 7 product reviews, or select the size, width, and color of your choice.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

Pros:

  • THE MOST COMFORTABLE LIGHTEST WEIGHT SHOE I HAVE EVER OWNED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!
  • Comes In Double Wide
  • Adjustable Velcro Straps
  • THEY FIT!!!!
  • I wasn’t crazy about the color/style – but other people like them, I get a lot of compliments!
  • SO comfortable – I can’t stress this enough – they’re AMAZING
  • Zappos Return Policy is very generous. I ordered some other shoes which I’ll share below which had to be sent back. Easy peasy. They have a 365 day return policy incase you feel lazy – but the sooner you return – the sooner you get refunded.
  • These ones definitely aren’t being returned though. I am in love with these shoes!

Cons:

  • Literally only comes in this one color
  • There have been many other releases of Tabata by Easy Spirit but this “version 7” is the newest release. I am going to order some of the older versions – in hopes they are the same shoe – just different colors. For example Tabata 2 comes in like 10 colors lol.

Final Verdict: It’s a keeper and it is going to Disney World – FOR SURE – best shoes ever. I’m going to order more.

SAS Embark Sandals

I loved these and almost wanted to keep them, but the ankle strap…. dug into me a bit. Not for us ladies with CANKLES. (fat women who have no definition between calf and ankle lol).

The item I ordered was:

SAS
Embark Nero 8.5 WW – Double Wide (D)
ASIN: B07XG7S25L

SAS Embark | Zappos.com

Embark by SAS at Zappos.com. Read SAS Embark product reviews, or select the size, width, and color of your choice.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

Pros:

  • Awesome Footbed – Footbed is wide and very cushioned. Felt nice and luxorious.
  • Loved the black with tiny silver sparkle accents – SO pretty – feminine – even SEXY – which is so hard to find in a DOUBLE WIDE women’s shoe.
  • I liked these – I really liked these – except…. (see the Cons)

Cons:

  • It had a hard – VERY thick ankle strap – and yes, all the straps are velcro – BUT I have Cankles. I am extra Cankley. No lie. And my fat folds around my ankle and my fat folded right over this ankle strap.
  • I walked around the house 10-15 minutes and decided that this ankle strap was going to eventually hurt me.
  • It was SO HARD and THICK and just UNFORGIVING as heck.
  • The ankle strap was too thick and went up too high onto my leg. It was the only flaw – but a critical one for me.
  • Also if price is a factor for you – these are almost $200 – but they are VERY attractive shoes – and if you don’t have fat ankles like me – these are very comfy shoes.

Final Verdict: Returned.

Trotters Tiki

These were quite similar to my Vionics ordered before – shared below.

The item I ordered was:

Trotters
Womens Tiki Black Nubuck Leather 8.5 WW (EE)
ASIN: B08P9GS9YL

Trotters Tiki | Zappos.com

Tiki by Trotters at Zappos.com. Read Trotters Tiki product reviews, or select the size, width, and color of your choice.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

Pros:

  • Double wide
  • All velcro
  • Adjustable
  • Fit pretty well
  • Lightweight
  • Soft
  • Pretty comfy

Cons:

  • The piece in the middle was leaving a little imprint or mark on the top of my foot, so I just removed it, because it just slid across the straps, not sewn on or anything. They look a little weird without it lol. But otherwise, now they fit and feel much better.

Final Verdict: I kept these – They might go to Disney if I don’t find something better. Right now I have 2 or 3 pairs I like better – but these might be a “just in case”.

Skechers Go Walk Arch Support Slides

I bought these from a store called Hitchcock’s – If you send them your measurements – which I did not – they can adjust and size shoes to fit you. And every shoe on their website is wide. The selection – especially for women isn’t great. But these shoes turned out pretty OK – They are coming to Disney World with me.

The Item I purchased was:

GoWalk Grey Arch Fit Slide

Amazingly lightweight, Skechers’ “GOwalk Arch Fit” slide sandal has stretchable padded Lycra ® straps with adjustable glitter buckles, a luxurious molded, high-rebound Arch Fit footbed and a flexible, dual-density Ultra Go TM cushion outsole. Women’s whole sizes 5 to 12 in an extra wide width that fits 2E.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

Pros:

  • They –mostly– fit there are a FEW issues – see cons below
  • Very lightweight and comfortable
  • They are bouncy soft like moon shoes – whee.
  • They look pretty – I received compliments – people saying they loved my shoes
  • They do stretch some over-time which solves the cons – kinda.
  • Just slip on and off

Cons:

  • They are a LITTLE snug in the width department – just a little. I can’t adjust the strap because it’s not an easily manipulable material. If they had one or two more notches in the straps – or if they were velcro instead of the little needle into the hole design – they’d be flawless. If I contacted Hitchcocks or ordered another pair I bet they could add a few extra holes for me or stretch them using a shoe stretcher. I do find each time I wear them, they’re getting stretched a bit and moulding more to my feet.
  • The buckle and straps don’t lay flat – I think it’s because they’re a little bit too narrow for me – but overtime I noticed this less.
  • Some people might not like the textured footbed, it does take some time to get used to it. It’s intended to massage and stimulate your feet.
  • I didn’t see this wide item available on Skechers website. Might be made special for or adjusted by Hitchcocks.

Final Verdict: I kept them, wear them a lot – and they’ll be going to Disney World.

Kizik Women’s Cairo

The item I purchased was: Kizik Women’s Cairo

Women’s Cairo – Bahama

Say hello to your new favorite shoe — The Madrid is the perfect shoe for all-day wear around the house or a casual day at the office. Designed using our environmentally-friendly fabric made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. Built with our patented F.A.S.T.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

I saw these on Facebook. They’re supposed to stretch to fit your feet and be able to put on just by stepping into them. They do not make wide sizes, but I thought since they’re so stretchy, they might fit. I was wrong.

Pros:

  • A lot of colors and styles
  • You can just step into them (if they fit you – they didn’t fit me)

Cons:

  • Not wide – at all – hurt my foot – I did get it on, but almost couldn’t get it off lol
  • Return process is a huge hassle. I didn’t see any way to return them so I emailed their support team and it took them almost 3 weeks to respond to me. They sent me a label in the mail and also one I can print myself. So I am in the process of returning these.
  • Expensive – but so are a lot of others on our list. These ones are $99 before shipping and taxes and etc.

Final Verdict: Not wide enough for me – returning. – And their return process is a hassle. I recommend avoiding these because of the lengthy return process.

Propet Women’s Joelle Slide Sandals

These came in a double wide, so I gave them a shot, despite another pair of Propets being very ill-fitting below.

The item I purchased was: Propet Women’s Joelle Slide Sandals from Famous Footwear.

Propet
Women’s Joelle Medium/Wide Slide Sandal
Color: Blue Snake Leather
Size: 8.5 2E EXTRA WIDE
Quantity: 1

Pros:

  • I think they fit better than the last pair of Propets below
  • Velcro adjustable straps
  • Super easy return policy (Spoiler: I returned these lol) Just walked right into Famous Footwear – showed my order confirmation email, they scanned a thing, and put the funds back on my card. I like that.

Cons:

  • The footbed had some weird design of a raised color strip of shreded fabric or shreded leather – as a design choice – it’s weird because no one will see it on the footbed – and from a comfort standpoint – it was hurting my feet – rubbing and pressing around my arches.

Final Verdict: Returned to my local Famous Footwear – Easiest return out of all of these so far.

Propet’s Women Walker’s Sandal

These are the other Propets I ordered. These ones came from Amazon. They are the illest fitting shoes I’ve ever purchased and were quickly returned. Thanks to Amazon Prime I was able to return these to my local Kohls.

The item I purchased was:

Propet Women’s W0001 Breeze Walker Sandal, Black Grain, 8 X (US Women’s 8 EE)

Propét Women’s Breeze Walker Sandal

Buy Propét Women’s Breeze Walker Sandal and other Walking at Amazon.com. Our wide selection is eligible for free shipping and free returns.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

Pros:

  • I dunno because they didn’t fit me in width nor length
  • Amazon Prime Members can return to local stores such as Kohls and Whole Foods.

Cons:

  • Definitely did not fit me. My toes hung over the edge. Order at least one size up if you’re ordering these.
  • They looked and felt cheaply made.

Final Verdict: Returned.

Telic Boise Bliss Rose Quartz

This is another pair from a Facebook Ad. They didn’t come in Wide so I ordered a size up just to try. I did poke my own extra holes in the straps using a nail – and a lot of effort lol. After poking them, I knew I couldn’t return them – but now they mostly fit me – I might have to poke one more hole in one of them – the other one is perfect – we all have one bigger foot you know. So I kept these. They’re mostly sold out at this time.

The item I purchased was: Telic Boise Bliss Rose Quartz size M – US Women’s 9 / Men’s 8

Rose Quartz

This beautifully designed sandal has an anatomically correct footbed and is offered in four colors. With a slight wedge and adjustable straps, it can be dressed up or dressed down. It is contoured to support the arches of your feet and has a deep heel cup with great medial arch and metatarsal support.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

Pros:

  • They are made of a spongey type of material so you can pierce the straps with a nail to add some extra holes to increase the width
  • Good arch support
  • Lightweight
  • Comfy
  • So many colors – I love the pink ones I ordered but also love the mint green color too.
  • Slip on design

Cons:

  • If you don’t want to stab them with a nail to add some more holes to both straps – I would say these are not for wide feet.
  • The fact that I can stab and pierce the material – makes me wonder – what would happen if I stepped on a nail or rock or piece of glass – etc LOL – I think they’re overcharging for really super cheap rubbery material and am pretty concerned that these will not hold up well overtime.
  • The thing that makes them a Pro in this case might also be a Con lol.

Final Verdict: I kept them, I like/love them, but not sure if they will come to Disney because of the above-mentioned uhm porosity (I guess for lack of a better word) or sponginess of the materials used in construction? Glad I got them though since they’re sold out now in my size.

Teva Women’s Ascona Sport Web

The Item I purchased: Teva Women’s Ascona Sport Web 8.5 (they didn’t offer wide, but it had adjustable straps so I took a chance. It is not the item in the pic below).

Sadly, this is another return for me. It almost fit, except for the strap closest to the ankle strap (not the ankle strap itself, the next one up.) There’s a good 2 inches between end one and end 2. All of the other straps fit well. Ankle, and the 2 or 3 toe straps. But the one strap right on the middle of the foot – too short. I can’t fasten it.

Pros:

  • Footbed Felt Super Soft And Cushioned And Awesome
  • Every strap except for one fit me
  • Could have probably cut that strap off and still had a secure fit – but too expensive for that much trouble
  • Light weight!!! MUCH lighter than my other Teva reviewed below (the ones I actually kept.)

Cons:

That one damn strap is super short and it’s tied to the other straps above, so if I loosen it, the others get too tight.

  • It just doesn’t fit
  • Not wide enough
  • About 2-3 inches too short of a strap
  • Does not come in Wide

Final Verdict: Not wide enough, returning. Almost fit, except for one strap not being long enough – had that one strap been longer – they would have been quite comfortable. I debated just cutting that strap off – but for $80.00 I rather return them for a refund.

Clarks Women’s Arla Gracie Sandal

The item I purchased was:

I purchased this one through Amazon. I went with an 8.5 Wide in the coral color.

Clarks womens Arla Gracie Sandal, Bright Coral Textile, 8.5 Wide US

Buy Clarks womens Arla Gracie Sandal, Bright Coral Textile, 8.5 Wide US and other Platforms & Wedges at Amazon.com. Our wide selection is eligible for free shipping and free returns.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

Unfortunately, these cute strappy sandals didn’t fit. Not wide enough for me to get my foot into the top part of them. Since only the ankle strap was adjustable – and even that was tight. Despite being marketed as wide shoes, these just aren’t wide at all.

Pros:

  • Comfy Footbed With Lots Of Cushioning
  • Cute feminine colors

Cons:

  • Not wide enough
  • Only one strap is adjustable
  • Seemed to run long in length

Final Verdict: Returning these ones since I can’t even get them on

Hoka

The Item I tried on was:

HOKA ONE ONE Women’s Bondi 7 Running Shoes in 8.5 wide

HOKA ONE ONE Women’s Bondi 7 Running Shoes

Shop a wide selection of HOKA ONE ONE Women’s Bondi 7 Running Shoes at DICK’S Sporting Goods and order online for the finest quality products from the top brands you trust.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

Someone recommended these to me today and to my surprise, my local Dick’s had them in an 8.5 wide (my usual size). Also to my surprise, they are SO TIGHT and Ill-Fitting and HARD as rocks and HURT that I only kept em on my feet for 5 seconds. I couldn’t stand it AT ALL. It felt like something was PRESSING DOWN HARD on the top of my foot. I assume they just weren’t wide enough for me, despite being marketed as wide width. Works for some people, some people love them, but NOT ME – worst of the worst! Absolutely horrible. Glad I was able to try them on and save myself $150 and the hassle of returns.

Pros:

  • Colorful
  • Lightweight
  • Firm Arch Support
  • Available locally even in small towns

Cons:

  • Even the wide evidentally is not wide enough for me
  • SOMETHING was PRESSING DOWN on the top of my foot
  • Excruciating Pain – never felt pain like this in my whole life from a pair of shoes. Removed them immediately.
  • Again the idea of wearing tennis shoes at Disney World worries me because of heat, humidity, water rides, wet socks, and wet shoes, and sweaty feet causing blisters. Other people do it, but I much prefer an open toe design and waterproof shoe without needing socks.
  • Expensive – $150 at my local Dicks

Final Verdict: Absolutely hated them. Grateful Dicks had them so I could try them on. They hurt worse than any shoe I’ve ever had on my feet in my life. Simply NOT WIDE enough even though they supposedly were “wide width”

Comfortview

I purchased this item last week from Woman Within because they were on clearance.

The Item I purchased was:

The Alivia Sandal

  • Color: Dusty Pink
  • Size: 8-WW
  • Price: $23.39
  • Quantity: 1

The Alivia Sandal

Set the standard for comfortable summer footwear with these must-have water-friendly sandals. Nubuck-like upper with lycra-like lining Water-friendly footbed Padded insole Flexible, skid-resistant outsole 1¼” stable flat heel Water-friendly footbed sandals available in full and half sizes 7-11, 12 M, W, WW

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

Even though it was marked as double wide, not wide enough AGAIN for me, couldn’t even get my feet inside even though I pulled and stretched and yanked at the upper part of the shoes for a good 15 minutes. The soles feel wonderful, but the upper part is too tight, my ankle is hanging off the back of the shoe, because my feet are too fat to push my feet forward all the way into the toe space. I can only get in about 2/3 of the way. At least I purchased them on massive clearance. The sale is over now and they’re back up to over $80.

Pros:

  • Cute Colors
  • Comfy Soles
  • Lightweight
  • Slip On Design
  • Breathable Open Toe Design

Cons:

  • Even the double Wide is too narrow – my feet just can’t fit. I’m bummed about that. So back they go.

Final Verdict: Wanted to love them, got a great buy, and it’s actually going to cost me half that price almost ($9.99) to return them, but they just aren’t wide enough for me and don’t fit me. Sigh. Story of my life!!

Brooks Running Shoes

The Item I purchased was:

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

These were the first shoes recommended to me for Disney World. They are plenty wide enough, going up to double wide in a few select styles. They might be almost TOO wide…. NOT SURE yet… They DO have a generous 90 day return policy even if worn and used. I’m on the fence about returning these and trying for just single wide instead of double wide…. My foot slips in these and I feel the heel of the shoe rubbing my heel which I think after 10-12 miles a day for 8 days, my feet will kill me and have angry heel blisters… I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if I need a smaller width, or a smaller length… Or both maybe. I have until September 11, 2021 to return these, and I think they’ll be going back. Also with Florida heat and humidity and water rides at the parks… I think soggy sweaty shoes and wet socks will also produce some scary blisters. Not to mention my feet feel hot and warm in these already, even here near Pittsburgh where the heat and humidity are much milder than in Florida.

Pros:

  • 90 Day Return Policy Even When Worn And Used
  • Plenty Wide Enough – Even Maybe Too Wide…
  • Great Support And Traction
  • Balance Correcting Shoes
  • Looks Nice

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Too Wide For Me (or I need to go down in length not sure. Shopping for shoes online is so hard!)
  • Only 2 colors/styles available for Women’s Double Wide Widths
  • Honestly not comfortable, between my heel slipping and rubbing the back of the shoe, and just being super hard and firm, these don’t feel comfortable at all.
  • Fear Of Blisters From Heel Slipping And Rubbing Back Of Shoe
  • Fear Of Heat/Sweat/Water

Final verdict: Probably going to return. Not Sure If I’ll Exchange Them For Another Size Or Just Get Refund.

Fit Flops

The item I purchased was:

WALKSTAR

Product code: 193998989904
Red
uk 6 us 8 eu 39
Qty: 1

Women’s Walkstar Polyester-Webbing-Leather Toe-Thongs

Forever a favorite, our original, one and only, wide-fit, sporty webbing Walkstar is back! The sandal that launched FitFlop (in 2007), that sold millions worldwide, and sparked instant devotion in the women who wore it.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

Several people recommended Fit Flops. I can never wear regular Flip Flops because of my super wide feet. My widest part is right before the toes begin at the top of the foot. So the way Flip Flops have that inverted V style strap makes them too narrow to fit my feet. People promised me that Fit Flops were different. And the footbed (in my hands) felt so soft and light and amazing… BUT… for me… I couldn’t get my wide feet into these darn things – as expected. No can do. Already sent them back and still waiting on my refund. I was sad to have to return these because they are so cute. But they literally don’t fit. If you have wide feet – like REALLY WIDE feet – like me – these are a hard pass.

Pros:

  • Beautiful colors and large selection
  • Feels like a nice light weight soft material
  • Breathable, Cool, and Waterproof

Cons:

  • Not Wide Enough – Literally could not get my feet even half way inside them

Final Verdict: Returned about 2 weeks ago – still waiting on my refund.

Tevas

The Item I purchased was:

W HURRICANE XLT2 – CC

Qty: 1

Color: PINK

Size: 08

Product Total: $90.00

Hurricane XLT2 Christian Cowan

Tapping into Christian Cowan’s unquestionably fierce aesthetic, we teamed up with the designer to inject the classic Hurricane with high shine metallics and head-turning hues. Enlisting glittering, plant-based connector straps, this cool-wearing, quick-drying spinoff is offered in an extended size range for ultimate inclusivity.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

I decided to keep my Tevas Hurricanes although I’m NOT sure they’re the right shoes for Disney World. They’re JUST BARELY wide enough. And they feel extremely heavy on my feet. They have a million (OK 3 or 4) velcro adjustable straps. And again, my problem area is the top of my foot shortly before where my toes begin. I’m super wide at this point. There is a strap right at this point… It’s velcro so I can adjust it, but… even as loosely as I can make that strap it still feels a little bit snug. If I try to cheat and make it even looser by not lining up the velcro exactly, I can feel velcro digging at me sometimes. And there’s a big metal buckle on my pair (not shown in the picture I see my link is generating here on this article) But the big metal buckle is pinching my wide feet. I feel like it could ALMOST work, but not quite… But they’re pink and have glitter – and I can never find cute feminine shoes in a wide width… and for like day to day errands and stuff – they’re fine… I just don’t think they’re “DISNEY WORLD FINE”. For Disney World, I need better than Fine – I need EXTREME COMFORT and EXCELLENT FIT. This is like “Mostly Fits” and “Kinda Comfy” But misses the mark for me, but not enough so that I would return them. In Fact, I MIGHT try to order a second pair of Tevas – but one without that metal buckle – and maybe order a size up to see if that gives me some more width.

Pros:

  • SO CUTE COLORS AND STYLES
  • Comfy Footbed
  • Water Proof
  • Breathable
  • Cool
  • Adjustable

Cons:

  • Despite Being Adjustable – They’re still not REALLY wide enough. The back ankle strap is SOOOOO long that the designer’s logo is on the side of my ankle and could STILL go tighter – MEANWHILE the Toe Strap(s) are too short to REALLY fit my Wide Feet
  • That Damn Buckle Is So Hard And Pokes My Foot
  • Velcro Can Be Felt Rubbing Against My Feet If I Don’t Have The Straps Done Right
  • They ARE HEAVY!!!!! SUPER HEAVY!!! UGH….

Final Verdict: Kept Them – MIGHT try them at Disney World – But most likely will just keep them for day to day use. Might order another pair of Tevas in a different style – specifically one without a metal buckle, and might order a size up to see if that offers any more width.

Vionics:

These are my leading pair here so far – saved the best for last right? I ordered mine on Amazon and the reviews mention that the velcro will break after a few weeks – I’ve only had my pair for about 3 days so I don’t know yet how durable these shoes really are. But DAMN GIRL these shoes are SO LIGHT and COMFY and PLENTY WIDE. And the pale pink color looks fabulous with a wide range of skin tones and colors. They are Cute and Comfy and WIDE – but not TOO wide – Perfect width for my Wide feet. I love them. I’ve been wearing them every day for the past three days since they arrived.

Pros:

  • Wide Enough And Not Too Wide
  • Super Comfy Cushioned Footbed
  • LIGHT WEIGHT!! YES
  • Breathable Open Toe Design

Cons:

  • Might Not Be Waterproof – Might Have Some Issues Once They Get Wet – We Will See?
  • Several users have reported that the velcro wears out extremely quickly or that the straps break; I have not owned mine long enough to find out – but it would suck to find this out at Walt Disney World.

Final Verdict: IT’S A KEEPER – I’m definitely still looking for 1 or 2 more good pairs of shoes to switch in between each day at Disney World (which is what people recommend regardless of what shoes you take). In this case, also taking some other pairs along in case the velcro breaks on these like so many reviewers complain of on Amazon. Just in case!

So What Do I Normally Wear When I’m Not At Disney World?

We all have feet and we all have places to go and in the USA everywhere is “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service” So obviously I’m wearing SOMETHING already every day right? Well yes, obviously. But they’re not the comfiest. They START OUT amazing – but over time they hurt my feet.

My GO TO – summer casual shoes are Under Armor Velcro Slides. I have been buying a new pair every summer. I took them to the beach, went in the ocean in them, and everything. They’re SO comfy and fit perfectly on my wide feet. They might be Men’s shoes or unisex shoes I’m not sure – but they fit me! so YAY.

Under Amor Slides:

In fact, as I typed up this review I decided to go ahead and order another pair.

The item I just ordered is:

Women’s UA Ignite IX Slides

Sku: 3022717-300-8

Color: Breeze / Stellar Pink – 300

Size: 8

Qty: 1

Women’s UA Ignite IX Slides

The memory foam not only feels great, but also helps eliminate pressure on your feet after you work out. Adjustable synthetic strap with soft foam underneath for added comfort Footbed built with two layers of Performance 4D Foam® for unprecedented comfort Anatomical contours provide additional cushioning Re-engineered EVA outsole built with durable traction pods in heel for lightweight cushioning & comfort ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE UNDER ARMOUR APP.

//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js

The problem begins after months of use – they get… worn down? I don’t know how else to describe it… The memory foam in the sole loses its cushioning – and I feel a very very strong impact with EVERY step. I think that’s why my feet are in pain every day even when I’m not doing anything, even sitting or laying or barefoot. My feet and legs and knees hurt always. These shoes start out feeling like walking on clouds but after just day to day use they get smooshed down until they have NO shock Absorption at all… DEFINITELY NOT APPROPRIATE FOR DISNEY WORLD… NO WAY. Shock Absorption is SO IMPORTANT. You will walk an average of 10-12 miles a day!! and most people do 8-10 days in Disney – so you’ll rack up about 100 miles at the end of your trip!!! Imagine that with no shock absorption – YIKES….

While I mostly love under armor slides for day-to-day errands or even shorter trips with less activity, I don’t recommend them for Disney World.

But if you want a comfy pair of slides, check them out. I got mine at Dick’s. And then I just ordered another pair right now on Under Amor’s official site.

Pros:

  • Tons and Tons Of CUTE COLORS
  • WIDE! Fit Great!
  • At First They Feel AMAZING Like Walking On Clouds (But that quickly changes)
  • Still Even After The Cushioning Is Worn Down, They Remain Lightweight, Breathable, And Even Waterproof
  • CHEAP – $29.99!!! Compared to shoes on this list that cost $160 or up – these are a steal.

Cons:

  • The Cushioning Gets Worn Down SUPER QUICKLY
  • Which Leads To Having NO SHOCK ABSORPTION AT ALL!
  • Probably Damaging My Feet In The Long Run…

Final Verdict: Still Love Them, Buy Them Every Year. I will probably wear these on the plane and around the hotel resort anyways so they’ll still be coming to Disney World – but I think around the park, they will hurt me because of no Shock Absorption. Maybe my new pair I just ordered will last the week – but putting 100 miles on them by the end of the week, I know they’ll be shot down afterward. Still, for $29, throw them away, or bring a couple of pairs, and throw each of them away after.

What Do I Wear In Rain Or Snow?

You won’t have to worry about Snow in Florida at Disney World – and even if there’s rain, many of the shoes on this list are waterproof and the rain is usually fleeting and mild. But if you’re like me, and live in a cold climate where it snows 6+ months out of the year, you might be looking for a nice year round shoe that will protect you from the elements.

I generally tend to prefer Skechers and Bobs (a brand also by Skechers) because they run wider than most of their competitors. I did buy a pair of Nike, wide or even extra-wide, last year, or the year before and those have been my go to winter shoes but I will say – Every shoe is different even by the same manufacturer. I tried on like 4 Nike “Wide” and only one fit me – and after having them a year or two… I STILL notice they’re just not wide enough to be comfy for me. I feel a pinch near the toe box area. Not at the front, not in length, but on each side, squeezing my toes.

Someone recommended to me to try Men’s shoes that they run wider, but my own research suggests that men’s shoes are wider at the heel, and narrower at the toe. And women’s shoes are wider at the toe and narrower at the heels. Apparently, men’s and women’s feet are shaped differently, who knew right? So I have not tried a men’s wide Nike yet, and I dunno if I would try it or not.

In high school I also used to buy Fila, because I felt that they also ran wider than most other brands.

Your mileage may vary.

No two feet are exactly alike.

No matter what, bring multiple pairs of shoes to Disney World and walk several miles first to break them in.

Happy shopping – and have a great time at Disney, blisters and all. What are a few blisters, compared to once in a lifetime vacation memories, right? 🙂

If you’re going in October for the 50th anniversary, maybe see you there!!

I will update this post as I continue to buy new shoes. I have one more pair on its way in the mail. Check back for new updates up through October.

After my trip in October, I’ll update this article to let you know which shoes I decided to take, and how each one made me feel after each day in the parks.

Stay tuned!

Shining Nikki Review And Shining Nikki Redeem Codes

Hello, today I am reviewing the latest dressup game, Shining Nikki. This is the latest in a long-running series of dressup games from Chinese developer, Paper Games. In Nikki’s newest game, you can see Nikki modeling her outfits for the first time in 3D. Much of the game is still in 2D anime style too, so you’re not missing that anime aesthetic.

Before I get too far let me share with you some codes you can redeem in Shining Nikki for some nice perks:

First, download and install Shining Nikki from the app store: https://nikki4.playpapergames.com/m/home

Next after setting up the game, click the user profile in the top left and then click settings and Redeem Code.

There are currently 2 Shining Nikki Redeem Codes active at time of this review:

  • NIKKISHOW
  • PRAISEMOMO

And now here are my initial thoughts about Shining Nikki which just launched a few days ago.

One of the most interesting things about this new installment of Love Nikki Dressup Games is that Nikki has a bit of artificial intelligence this time and can interact with you in surprising new ways. For example, she will ask you if you’ve played the previous games or not, and remember and reference things that had happened in the previous games if you’ve played them before. Another example is she will ask you what type of food you like, and remember your decision and later may offer to cook for you. You can also tell her if you’re male or female and she’ll interact differently based on if you’re a male love interest, or just a close female friend.

Watching Nikki lounge around at her home is cute. You can buy snacks and gifts for Nikki and she’ll sometimes be away from her home. This builds her intimacy with you and can trigger various events like learning more about each other or even unlocking new outfits later.

I did see someone make a joke that you buy Nikki movie tickets and snacks so she can go to movies without you. I laughed because it’s kinda true. But you also buy her things to go to part-time jobs or learn new things, etc.

I feel like the gameplay in this version of Nikki borrows quite heavily from gameplay in another otome dressup game called Romantic Diary. I know they are by different companies and all, but the fact you equip designer reflections and also perform investigations feels more like Romantic Diary or Wannabe Challenge than the traditional older Nikki games like Nikki UP2U, Hello Nikki or Love Nikki which all primarily focused on crafting, gacha, and dressup only.

In this way, Shining Nikki feels like it has evolved to “keep up” with the steady instream of fashion games that we continue to thankfully see hitting the app stores each week. The newly polished graphics, music, voice acting, and more in-depth gameplay elements make Shining Nikki the best game in the series yet.

Overall Score: 66/80 83% B “Very Good Game For Girls”

Geeky: 3/5 – The story is tragic and full of action and excitement which is unique for a casual girly dressup game. However, at the end of the day, despite 3D graphics and all the bells and whistles, it is just that… a 3D dressing game, with much of the game still in 2D as well. Unless you like anime otome dressup games, this one won’t be your cup of tea either.

Sweetie: 5/5 – But for those of you who like myself, adore this genre, of otome dressup games, this is one of the best ones available right now. Be sure to check it out. Nikki is even cuter now in 3D.

Gameplay: 7/10 – There is a ton to do in this game, from crafting to investigating, to reading the story, to even just interacting with Nikki and her new more personalized interactions thanks to a new AI system. However, it seems too short each day. I find I want to keep playing but have used up all my turns in the investigations or fashion battles or that I need to craft a very specific item from an investigation I haven’t unlocked yet and have to wait til the next day to get more investigation turns. Also, some turns say 5/15 – and I’d be willing to pay gems or cash to get more turns but that doesn’t seem possible sadly. Not sure how to use the other 10 supposed turns. They’re never available. Some of the fashion battles are challenging too especially on hard mode but well that is the purpose of hard mode after all. One key feature that I really miss from Love Nikki is the user-voted fashion challenges around certain themes. Maybe I just haven’t unlocked this feature yet I don’t know. Also, I don’t like that you can only equip 5 accessories. You should be able to equip one item from each type of category. Other games like Alice Closet allow this, so why not Shining Nikki too?

Story: 9/10 – There is a really interesting dramatic story, and the full voice acting helps bring it all to life. The story in Shining Nikki separates it from other dressup games out there. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, but lets just say it’s both beautiful, sad, and dark, which is something you don’t see every day in a cute little otome dressup game. That said, after the first few chapters, I just started skipping the story because it was slow and dragging down the gameplay too much. But the story is definitely good for those who enjoy taking the time to click through it. There are multiple decisions to be made, but largely it seems to be just an illusion of choice, and not much impact actually on the story.

Characters: 10/10 – I like all of the characters, many of whom are returning from previous Nikki games. Even the minor characters feel fleshed out and have deep rich back stories which slowly reveal themselves.

Graphics: 7/10 – Nikki is 3D sometimes, in fashion battles or at her home, but largely the majority of the game is still 2D and not “live 2D” but just still, no animation, however, the characters and backgrounds are all nicely drawn. Not a huge variety of outfits yet and some of them are downright ugly. 3D Nikki in her home is really cute. The fashion battles reveal a lot of tiny intricate details in the outfits when zoomed in close. The detail is quite lovely.

Music: 6/10 – Music is nice but can get repetitive as is true of most mobile games.

Voice Acting: 9/10 – Most of the game is fully voiced in English, and it’s not terrible which is a nice plus. The only voice I found really annoying was Momo.

Replay Value: 10/10 – New events, new items, and daily quests and tasks make replay value sky high on this one.

Overall Score: 66/80 83% B “Very Good Game For Girls”

How to Tell if You Have a Valid Slip and Fall Claim

Slip and fall accidents are quite common. They may occasionally come as a result of a hazardous situation on another person’s property. You must understand that merely falling on another person’s property does not always mean that the property owner is automatically legally responsible for the resulting injuries. In some circumstances, the owners of both commercial and private property may be held liable.

Therefore, if you got injured in a fall while on someone else’s property, the following information will guide you to determine whether you might have a valid slip and fall claim.

Was the Property in an Unsafe Condition?

Stumbling, slipping, or falling on someone else’s property isn’t enough for you to claim. For the liability to shift to the property owner, there must have been an unsafe condition causing the fall. Examples of hazardous conditions could include the following:

  • Potholes
  • Debris
  • A badly damaged sidewalk
  • Accumulation of ice and snow
  • Wet slippery floors

Additionally, the property owner must have caused the unsafe condition or allowed the situation to persist. You must note that property and landowners do not necessarily need to have their property in perfectly safe conditions; the only requirement is to make the property reasonably safe

For instance, after a snowstorm, property owners must take up the responsibility to clear up the snow and ice from sidewalks. However, they’re not mandated to make the sidewalks clear and dry; therefore, a slip and fall right after a snowstorm might not give you a valid claim.

Was the Property Owner Aware of the Poor Condition

If a property owner was unaware of the dangerous conditions that caused your fall, they didn’t have legal responsibility for your fall. The law allows property owners a reasonable amount of time to discover and come across dangerous conditions. Notice is among the most challenging factors to prove in the slip and fall cases.

For instance, when the fall takes place on a business premise, the business will likely generate an incident report after it. Incident reports will often provide insight into how long it took the owner to realize a dangerous condition. However, seasoned personal injury law firms like Kohan & Bablove will have the know-how to delve into the keenest possible pieces of evidence to prove reasonable notice in your case.

The Presence or Absence of a Warning

Once a property owner is aware of a hazardous condition they cannot remedy or fix immediately, they are responsible for warning the people around the danger. For instance, a store owner must set “caution” cones to alert their customers of recently wiped floors’ slipperiness

When roads and sidewalks are under construction, municipalities have to warn the public of the specific construction dangers. Warnings can be in roped-off areas or signage.

Your Responsibility in Specific Circumstances

If the danger that caused your slip and fall was open and obvious, then the responsibility does not fall on the property owner. For example, when there is a large hole, you’re expected to spot it and avoid it. Every person has a responsibility to stay safe and protect themselves from injuries. Speak to an attorney about the facts of your case; they will determine whether you bore a level of legal liability during your accident that may affect your case.

Make a Claim for Your Slip and Fall Accident

Before claiming a slip and fall, you must consider how serious the resulting injuries are. The claiming process with the owner’s insurance company, mostly when alone, is quite a hassle. If your injuries brought a lot of harm to your well being, finances, and ability to enjoy life, then proceed with your case.

However, to fully establish whether you have a valid claim, you must seek a personal injury attorney to review your claim and its specific facts. Once they have confirmed how strong your case is, go ahead and make your claim.
